Is it normal to only be happy by caring for someone?

As a whole, I feel quite neutral about almost everything out there. Example: I have no stance on abortion, how the world should be run, whether there is or isn't a God, or whether there is or isn't extra-terrestrial life.

Amongst all of my "lack of emotion" I feel as though the only thing that makes me happy is the need to make someone else happy.

All I want is to be able to please someone, yet, seemingly, no one is willing to accept this.

I question myself sometimes if I'm going insane. I tell myself yes. At least this provides me with a believable answer.

Am I normal? Or slowly going insane?

I usually feel happier when I help other people. That's one major reason why I have an account here.
I used to feel the same way about things like that, but that's probably because I ignored it at the time.

hahaha... I think we should hang out... you basically just described me.
It's normal. The only real way I can feel good about myself is if I can make someone else happy. It lets me know I've succeeded at something.

  • Well all of our actions go back to selfishness. Even the man who gives to charity does it because of the self-satisfaction he gets so there is no such thing as "selflessness".

Anyway. It's normal! Some people out there are satisfied when others are happy.
