Is it normal to observe so much at a young age to be a philosipher?

So, ever since I was 8 I learned that I could observe far conversations, lessons of politics, wars, and other stuff and remember it remarkably well that I astonished my teachers family, friends, and sages. ( a sage is an homered wise person) people say I have insight and that I socialize with people far beyond my age group. I am an expert In 13th, through 19th century history, know every war the us fought. (we have been a country for 238 years, but have been fighting for 209 years) and know a lot of disease- hybrid worst case scenarios. Is it normal? Please reply!

Genius yes or no, learn how to spell!
    Philosopher not Philosipher !!!
If you really claim to be a philosopher, get your head around the "allfather" of philosophy known as Socrates.

"I know that I know nothing"
It is normal to understand certain things, it is not normal nor accepted to get cocky about them, for they are still counting little towards all the knowledge there is out there!
Pull the stick outta your arse!

Episode V: The Irony strikes back!
A post like that condemning "haters" fuelled itself with so much hate, is like trying to break up a knife fight by stabbing as many partakers as possible.
Emotions and an attempt to be modest can clearly go hand in hand.
And I find the arguement of the "average" human being of our generation being ... well all those things you said, very frail and indistinct.
Looking back in history, our generations "average" human being is far more observant and morally stable than EVER before.
If not compared to our forefathers, who had nothing better to do than rape, pillage and kill each other, what else should we compare ourselves to?
No emotions and still being an angre driven person? That doesn't work either...

Yes, it's normal to think you are smarter than you are. In extreme cases, it's called "illusory superiority disorder." That's where you think you are above-average in intellect when you are actually below average in intillect.

Once you learn humility you'll be leagues ahead of where you are now. Also spelling & grammar.

What's the saying 'the more you know the more you realize how little you know'?

I don't think you even know what an expert is. Actual 'experts' are knowledgeable on a certain topic or period. But you claim to be one on seven very complex centuries. Nice one professor.

    • hundredthousand

It's spelled plague. And it wasn't called the black plague. It was called the Black Death. And there wasn't a specific date for it. Epidemics started in the 1340's and infections continue unto to the present day, but were particularly widespread in the Middle Ages.

And when did alchemists start being noticed, then prosecuted for being wizards?

Witchcraft was punished as early as 5th century BC Greece but never to the extent modern history presumes.

Alchemy was noticed as early as 5th century BC in Greece (as hundredthousand already had kindly pointed out). Prosecuted as witchcraft???? Excuse me?
First of all, Alchemy was mainly practiced in the Middle Eastern areas after the fall of Rome. It only fully arrived in Europe in 1100 (-ish) and it was mainly a translation from arabic into latin. Only later would it become more developed to the degree that latin countries would produce work in this field on their own and they stood in the shadow of middle eastern "science" until the end of Alchemy anyway. I hardly believe it was prosecuted at any point in history by the church, given that people such as St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) were known for being great alchemists. Thomas Aquinas is seen as the second most important rolemodel to Christians after their lord Jesus Christ.
In 14th century the church and especially England started putting forward many regulations which slowed Alchemy down, but was rather meant to stop "Pseudo-Alchemists" abusing Alchemy to rip some poor slobs off ,in that time Alchemy was mainly practiced by Monks & Clergymen due to it being written in Latin.
In the time of the Renaissance & Enlightenment Alchemy saw a further boom, as people such as Heinrich Agrippa pushed the limits of this science and openly admitted to being able to summon spirits through alchemy. He never got prosecuted but lost some high ranking positions he was holding.
Many famous people were sponsoring alchemists, such as:
      -Queen Elizabeth I. of England
      -King James IV. of Scottland
      -Rudolf II., Holy Roman Emperor
In the early 19th century, alchemy was naturally replaced with chemistry and modern medicine.
Alchemy was the forefather for both of them and disolved slowly as both chemistry and modern medicine prooved far more succesfull in their individual fields then alchemy ever could.
THERE, I HOPE THAT HELPED YOU!!!!

I am similar, only with psychology and anthropological thoughts. Some people are just gifted with the ability to understand and connect with certain topics/ways of thinking. Just embrace it and study it to your hearts content! I wouldn't say its "normal" and something everyone has, but it's definitely a good thing (so long as you use the knowledge wisely, I'm sure there have been countless serial killers with a gift to understand psychology..scary thought!)
