Is it normal to object to cyber-bullying and sexual harrassment laws?

So at my school and my job, these are some rediculous things. "If you give a co-worker of the opposite sex a compliment, and they do not consider you a friend or aquaintence, it is considered sexual harrassement" so me saying, "You look good with those new contacts" is sexual harrassment.

"If a student sends another student a text message containing an insult to another student, that is grounds for expulsion." so me texting "Dude, isn't Jason an asshole" is grounds for expulsion.

is it normal to find these rules stupid?

Yes they are fucking retarded. It is merely a sign of the decadence and decay of America and Americanism. Its about damn time. The same happened to Rome and the Soviet Union.

It's the interpretation of the law/rules that's the problem.

  • The laws are needed but not needed in the way they are.

These laws are way to serious. They should tone it down.

Yes, theyve kind of taken the laws too far in some circumstances, Ive seen people fired for ridiculous cases of sexual harrassment.

However without the laws, what would prevent people from getting felt up and worse in the workplace? So its not the fact that theyre in place thats really a negative thing, so much as it is people who would seek to abuse the system.

You're missing the point of sexual harassment and cyber bullying laws.
