i too like the idea of not knowing gender until it's born.
i know it's not always convenient but... hey sometimes it's nice to have surprises too
Having a baby is unlike anything you will have done before unless you have already had one. The best part about not knowing the gender is that it lets you focus on the health of mother and child. The only people who want to know the gender in advance are the fashion-obsessed who want to push modern baby colour prejudices. Contrary to popular myths, it is only recent post-war western history that we think blue is for boys and pink for girls.
Maybe you're just collecting public statistics, or bored to ask such a peculiar question. But my answer: Not only normal, but HIGHLY recommended.
... Personally though, I'd like my child to be a boy, though my mate's hoping we''ll have a girl.
Yes, normal. There's plenty more important stuff to worry about later on as they get older (money, food, shelter, education, when they finally leave your house and even more worrying after that)....
babies suck either way... i mean youre giving this thing life but you always have to remember it will die to and whos to blame for its death but you
Even if you did care about the gender you would still care for it's health. Every parent can help but lve their kid(s)
I did not want to know. I felt as if the baby was a girl. I was right :)
Of course everyone wants a healthy baby! Many people are pretty obsessed over the sex of the baby too, though. I mean, before they find out if it's a boy or girl, they usually have some preference in mind.
It's rare to meet anyone these days who doesn't want to know the sex of the baby before it's born. In fact I think that only happens on TV shows anymore!
I used to read Little House on the Prarie books when I was a kid. Laura Ingalls Wilder had a daughter first, that's what she wanted, and her second child was a boy, she actually describes her displeasure with having a boy....and the boy died in infancy which she found convenient.
Then there's old Henry the 8th....
Those are extremes though, but I do believe most people do have a preference although don't put that above the importance of health.
Some people do care about the sex of their baby actually. I prayed for a boy coz I hate pink and all that girlie crap. I had a boy :o)
I agree thats impossible for that to be considered socially unacceptable (which is what this site is about)
I do not think that waiting to find out the baby's gender is normal because it is not typical of most people anymore. However, I think that it is great if you wish to not know until the baby is born. My parents waited and they were very happy with the gender of all three of their kids (girl, boy, boy). Also I think that, depending on how my future wife feels on the matter, I would not mind waiting either.
