Is it normal to not want to shower

Heres the problem: i dont like to shower. I am a successful professional in the financial industry so its not as if i am just very young learning good habits.

I dont like to shower. I feel like it takes too much time and effort i could be doing something else. So i only shower once a week.

I know this is not an attractive subject. I have recently began showering on sundays wednesdays and fridays because i have noticed an uplifting mood effect after showering. But i only do it for the mental affect and not for any other reason.

I know this is probably not normal. I would like to know anyones thoughts on what motivates them to shower if they have the same problem. Also any positive things from showering other than the obvious cleanliness.

I agree with you that it is too time consuming. I also hate the hour it takes to dry and straighten my hair. I can think of so many other things I'd rather be doing!

I do the same thing. I only shower on weekends just because I think my time is better spent during the week. I don't even brush my teeth at home. I wait until I get to school and do it in the bathroom before class. This is just because I try to maximize the amount of sleep I get a night since I have to stretch my limited hours of the day to get everything done.

I'd say you are immature. As adults we do things that we don't like because we just have to. I don't like going to the dentist, but I go. I don't like going to the Dr. but I go. It's to be healthy. I'm guessing you don't work out either because then you would REALLY stink. A stinky slob. Ick.

First off I'd like to say I'm a chic and I can be in the shower clean and shaved in 5 minutes.... Who doesn't have 5 minutes for personal hygiene? There is nothing worse than someone who doesn't take a bath at LEAST every other day :-/

I have the same problem but sometimes I feel like the walls are closing in on me or like some entity is watching me when I close my eyes. I only shower 5 minutes after 1 or 2 weeks and that's only to get dandruff out of my hair.

I feel the same as you... What helps me is waking up earlier in the morning and showering before I do anything. I also have a watch/stopwatch on while I shower... I try to shower within 5 to 10 minutes... Then when I'm done, I do whatever I want... I don't know of that'll help you.

It's weird. I like the warm water flowing over my shoulders. If anything I have difficulties leaving the shower but heating water is expensive.

i don't shower every day, but i have dry skin. i shower about every other day. i always make a point to wash my face and the obvious areas. if you don't get sweaty, stinky, or too oily, i don't see a problem with not showering every day.

also, i have super dry/curly hair. i only wash it once or twice a week. if i wash it more, it starts to break off at the ends, and it's a huge pain to straighten.

Well in my opinion I think you should shower more often maybe not everyday but every other day. Or maybe your should: start out by showering 2-3 times a week. Than put a little bit more effort and try showering 3-4 times a week. Then try challangeing youself and shower 4-5 times a week and so on and so forth. Untill you get use to it... I use to be the same, but I was young. I hated feeling dirty/filthy but at the sametime I hated takeing showers good thing I grew out of it. Showering just became an everyday thing to me, hopefuly it will to you to : O
(Oh and fyi its normal theres a lot of people who don't like showering.)

  • Ok first I don't wanna be mean but the way u talk is sorta annoying and the showering thing is gross. Does ur hair not get covered in grease at the end of the day??? I can't imagine not taking a shower every day. I would go insane. I'm not trying to be mean it's just u gotta take better care of urself.

Suck it up and take care of yourself if not for ur sake but for others. I am a self employed mother of 2 girls that are in every extra curricular activity u can imagine. I find the time to bathe 2 x a day!!!

Hmmm, I think I feel like that sometimes just because it's so repetitive. Doing the same ritual every day is boring. But I do it anyway. I'm a dental hygienist and we canNOT be stinky! On the other hand I find a nice shower a sort of reset button. Like washing off a bad day or just getting a fresh start. It just feels good.

I'm sorry if I offend you, but people who don't shower or bathe disgust me. I can't stand the smell, and I refuse to associate with, or even SIT in the proximity of someone whom I can tell doesn't practice good personal hygiene.
I also have an extreme phobia of smelling bad, so I shower at least once every day, and most of the time it's in the morning so I can leave my room feeling fresh and clean.

    Wow.

The best I can do is tell you that you should maybe start showering more often to avoid offending the other people around you--It's just considerate to not pollute the air someone in your space is trying to breathe.

    (:
