Is it normal to not want to hang out with friends of friends?

I have a friend i've known for quite a few years, and a few times I went to a national park with them. They want to go back in the spring but they want to take along someone else as well.

I do not know this person at all beyond that they have mentioned their name before. Is it okay to not want to be forced to interact with someone I don't know for an extended period?

Especially since its something that involves alot of being in the car with the two of them. I feel like i'm just going to be a third wheel.

I accidentally voted "no" but i meant "yes". I'm okay with hanging out with friends of friends but if it's someone I've never met before and they're talking and telling inside jokes and ignoring me, it's the most frustrating thing EVER!!!

Understandable. Maybe you can start with a short meeting?
