Is it normal to not want to eat infront of new people?

Iv always had a wierd THing where I didn't want to eat around the parents of whoevers house I was at.. Like idk I just don't feel right because they expect me to eat and are makin it for me which idk makes me feel odd. But I just don't like going places with my Friends to their homes and they're parents making food. I just don't feel comfortable.. And I'm going to visit my "potiental girlfriend" sometime soon and I don't want to make it seem like I don't want to eat their food when I come... Advice? Help? :(

ME TOO! i thought it was some weird spin off of an eating disorder, but i guess it's just a random and bazaar quirk.

btw i did an exchange program recently and i had major issues with this but don't worry about it. It's just when i don't feel comfortable somewhere first of all I don't want them looking at me while i eat, but secondly i don't want to hog all their food even though they want me to eat.

Anyway if i can get through two weeks of this making my host family think i was overly conscious of my figure then you can have a dinner with your girlfriend's parents.

Damn that. I used to be, then I realized, If someone eats reckless, doesn't mean they don't have table manners. They may be hungry. I tuck a napkin over my shirt and get to eating like a hobo mofo. Savoring the flavor does nothing for my stomach. It also shows that you enjoy their cooking. It's normal though. Don't look too much into it.

If the food is noce I will try to eat it as neatly as possible, using all the table manners I've been taught, knife, fork, spoon, posture etc etc, that way I won't embarress myself since I'm naturally quiet a 'wild' eater.

But yeah, sometimes I feel paranoid eating around new people, especially with saucy food, just practice to eat neater and table manners, cut your food into small pieces so you dont make a mess of yourself and try not to think of eating as a taboo in public.

I'm a picky eater so I'm always afraid I won't like their food. And I'm shy with new people so it can get uncomfortable. I get u!
