Is it normal to not want to eat... ever.

So get this, I really don't like to eat. If my stomach never gurgled, I don't think I would ever eat(other than the fact that I need energy). Everytime I eat I feel sick, like nausea and throw-up feeling. Normally I just force everything down whatever the food may be. Once its in my stomach Im usually fine, but the lack of appetite doesn't make it easy to eat. I do enjoy the tastes of foods, however I hate the act of eating. One of my saviors has honestly been smoking weed. Now I know what you think - ahh this is just some dumb pothead - well that couldn't be further from the truth. I really ONLY smoke weed when i am at my house, and ready to eat. Weed really helps me eat comfortably and larger amounts. Other information you might need to know.
1. Ever since I can remember I have been extremely picky.
2. I do suffer from heartburn/stomach pain. - My GP says its from drinking alcohol, but i only have a few beers a week.
3. 22 years old. White. Male. (150lb 6ft) No other health issues.

When I was ten or so, I choked on pizza. I literally stopped eating food for months. All I ate was yogurt and soft food because my parents MADE me. Eventually, the doctor told me if I didn't start eating they would have to hook me on to a feeding tube. 12 years later, I laugh because I am fat haha.

I don't even eat when I smoke weed. But, I hate eating also. I just have to or I throw up stomach acid and stuff. I have really bad heartburn also, which is part of why I don't like eating.

I smoke weed too but many times a day so im always hungry. If one day i dont smoke i wont eat either. I think if you conditioned yourself not to smoke before eating you could have more appetite.

Are you smoking weed to relax enough in order to be able to eat? If so, it sounds like a nervous condition.

Go see a naturopath who works with digestive issues or see a different GP? I mean, how do they really know the heartburn is from the alcohol? Just because you get one answer from one person doesn't mean you need to stick with it if you don't agree with it. If you are not wanting to eat and need something like weed to help get it down, sounds like something is going on your digestive track.

Sounds like anorexia. Or bulimia. Whatever, I don't know the difference.

But there is a medically diagnosed psychological condition where people starve to death because they stopped eating, because they stopped getting hungry.

No comment on the part about marijuana, because I don't know enough on the subject to make any reliable statements.

I don't think it's either anorexia or bulimia.

Anorexia nervosa is caused by someone refusing to eat even a normal diet, because the person thinks he or she is "fat". Usually the person is actually underweight.

Bulimia nervosa often goes along with anorexia but can occur alone as well. In this case, people will purge themselves of whatever food they ate. Often this follows either binge-eating, or what the person considers to be binge-eating (which may simply be a normal sized meal).

I don't think either one really fits the OP since he isn't trying to purge himself, nor is he really calling himself fat and punishing himself for wanting to eat. Instead, he is finding that his body reacts negatively to food.

I do however recommend a doctor. This could be a mental issue, or it could also be symptoms of another physical issue.
