Is it normal to not want to date real people?

I am asexual and aromantic, but only for real people. I can't stand people that I can actually meet, but if the person is a comic book character, video game character, or some other similar thing, I would date/have sex with them.
Is this normal?

I want to say it's because in video games and tv shows they're perfect. I think your main focus is on the aspect that they are not real people, thus they can't hurt you. They won't lie to you, they won't cheat on you. Instead, because you've always seen them as entertainment, since they're in a show or game, they can love you. They can entertain you and be there for you whenever you want. But in actuality you know people aren't how you want them to be. Thus, you resort to putting these feelings of love onto the characters you see on tv. It's understandable but I don't believe healthy.

I can't say why you don't like people but these characters are often one dimensional, perfect looking, funny or charming, while in real life people can be ugly, physically and emotionally, and are much more complicated than a fictional character.

Same. Why does everyone seem to assume we (people who fall in love with cartoon characters) only love the "perfect" ones? Like the default is some hot anime boys or something? Or am I just weird for being attracted to other things?

I don't really know. I like characters with flaws as well.

I like fictional characters more than real people too. Since humans are by nature social animals, I do need to socialize in meat space every once in awhile but for the most part I prefer the company of my fictional buddies. Sure, they can't reciprocate but they can't hurt me, and they don't dump all their emotional baggage on me either.

I think this is normal. Heroes and characters are not normal. They are everything we inspire to be. They are extraordinary and have interesting likable personality.

So of course a hero and even a villain is going to be me desirable than a real life person. They are made so people either sympathies, admire, idolize, or relate to. Think about the Hulk. The Hulk is a quiet small sweet guy. He turns into the hulk when you piss him off but that is not until the power is awaken.

Now every nerd/geek/loser person that has felt picked on mistreated is going to sympathies with hulk and want to be the Hulk. I mean if every dork could turn into the hulk they would never be picked on again. Along with that hulk is indestructible. The angrier he gets the bigger he gets. So you cant kill him.

Meaning the way to stop the hulk is to be nice and calm them down. See if any loser in school could get that kind of respect from people they would probably be a lot happier. Another one would be spider man. Spider man again is a nerd who got picked on and is now given super spider powers and get the girl of his dreams.

Again think about how many people would want that? In fact a lot of super heroes started as nerd/dorks/freaks and were given super powers. Now lets think of batman he lost his family when he was young but he was rich.

Also even though he is rich he never treats anyone worse for being poorer than he is and even takes in other orphans. He proves that despite how rich and powerful you are that no one is below you. That people who pick on those weaker than them is scum, and actually uses his power to take care of others. He could be scum but he isnt.

it's not normal, but its also not unheard of- given the shit people are the real ones in this world, and the fictional are perfect if you want them to be

you dont wanna date real people because they dont meet up to the expectations to what you like. video gae and comic book characters do awesome things so you want someone whho is just as awesome

go for someone who is bold and does a lot of extreme stuff for fun. thats who you are attracted to

maybe you are afraid to be cheated or something like that,
i cant love a charecter, but he can inspires me even if he's fiction,
the deal whith real personne (if you want to apreciate them, maybe you just wont to) has to be accepted like they are,
why you dont try the real actors that plays your favorite show,
you love tony stark or robert downey Jr ???????????

Well, fictional people can't hurt you like real people can. They are more controllable. When you idealize a real person, it's a disappointment when they don't turn out to be who you wanted them to be. Make sense? And being asexual/aromantic is okay. You are what you are.

That's a pretty niffy term. I had to look up what it meant on Wikipedia and it's interesting.
