I don't like gay people! I think being gay is wrong and sinful! And I certaintley do not want gay men serving with me in the military. Does anyone else feel the same way?
I disagree. Their sexual orientation has nothing to do with their ability to serve. The fact that they are willing to make the sacrifice to serve for our country, and the increased chance of their premature death due to doing so should make you proud to have these men and women serving. Don't forget; even if you don't like them, they are willing to fight and give up their lives for your freedom. You wouldn't spew that bitter diatribe to a WWII vet lying on their deathbed, so why would you say it here? Oh yeah, that's right-- the cloak of disguise that is the internet. Well, step beyond your little playbox you call a PC, and go give some well-deserved thanks to these folks who are fighting for your freedom. Your freedom you're obviously taking for granted by bashing those who have fought so hard to allow you to have it. I think it is great that you are going to serve, but you need to pull your head out of your ass and appreciate all of those willing to serve alongside you. Whether they are gay, straight, male, female, white, black, Jewish, agnostic, the list goes on.
How does what someone get up to in the bedroom affect how they serve the country? Or do any job for that matter?

Alright wow. My boyfriend is in the military and he's told me there's always been a sort of don't ask don't tell policy about gays and sexual orientation. However lately, they've started being more open about it and my boyfriend was surprised to find out most of his team in the navy was gay. Has that affected him and how they serve?
Well considering that hes been in the navy for years and is still alive despite the dangerous missions and general scary military stuff I would say it's obvious that sexual orientation has nothing to do with absolutely anything since atleast half the team he's with is gay. He says it doesn't bother any of them, they simply joke about it. They're like family, because in the military that's the only way you get by. Theyre gone over seas for half a year sometimes. And if anything, your stupid homophobia is what would cause problems. Not the gays. So please stop being so stupid. The way you talk makes me believe that you're full of shit and have absolutely no idea about how the military really is.
Being gay has nothing to do with your ability to be a good soldier. What do the homophobes think... in the heat of battle, two soldiers are going to be like "Hey, fuck the war... let's fuck!" No. Gay people and straight people are all the same. They both take shits. They both get headaches. They both want love.
If these are truly calculated and understood opinions then you are a bad person. Or a closeted gay hating yourself.
Please learn how to spell properly before you try to make an argument. Oh and gays are fine. Their being gay doesn't and never will affect their capability to serve.

While you whine about not liking gays, which btw is tough luck because they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, many brave and selfless gay men and women are out fighting in terrible situations just so you can be safe in your little ignorant world.

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with being gay. There is, however, plenty wrong with hating someone because of their race, religion, or sexual orientation.
You can disagree with their life choices all you want, but maybe you should appreciate what they have in common with you. They too want to serve their country. And why shouldn't you let them?
Say we both like to ride rollercoasters but you are the opposite religion as me (I'm not saying anything about my religious beliefs (or whether I have any or not) or trying to demean yours, I'm simple stating an example). Now should I say that I don't want to sit next to you on the rollercoaster? No. Disagree with the person's decision, fine, but respect him or her as a person.
This is ridiculous. Explain to me how it would legitimately impede the military missions for gays to serve. Trust me, a gay man or woman can certainly shoot a gun just as well as a straight person. As for why they should be able to be open about their sexual orientation? Well, let's say you're serving in the military...the only problem is, they don't like gingers! But you have red hair! So, because they can't keep you out, they just tell you that you can't show your hair the entire time you serve. Would want to hide who you are? Straight people don't have to be covert about their sexual orientation, and gay people shouldn't have to either.

I don't understand why it would make a difference if they are gay or not. Their sexuality has nothing to do with whether they will be a good soldier or not. Just because they are gay does not mean that they will hit on every man they see, and if people think that then they are morons. And you know what, if a gay man flirts with a straight man not realising that they are straight, hey, don't get offended, take it as a compliment. Intellectuals are fans of civil liberties. Gay rights is one of them. There are so many logical arguments for why gays should be treated equally and none for why they shouldn't. It really just comes down to bigoted, right-winged idiots.
There were people just like you a few decades ago saying it is immoral for people to marry outside of their race. You are just like them.
I have a lot to say about this. I am not in the military so I can not really say how I feel about them serving. I think if they are willing to sacrifice like every other soldier their should be no problem. I understand the discomfort that some soldiers (all men in battle groups) may have with this. THe current repeal of the "Dont ask dont tell" policy will mean that a man can no longer be transferred from a battle group to more leisurely assignment just because he is gay. My question is "Why does a gay person want to so badly be defined by that, instead of their accomplishments and character?" Why is it so important for gay people to be able to openly serve in the military. Regardless of what some people might say, they're not gaining anything by it. It simply causes them to be defined as gay and not a whole lot else.

Gays have been serving in many militaries for years and its not a problem. No different than showering at a gym, I could really care less if the gays are there it is not an issue....usually only the macho closeted ones that have a problem.
Women are allowed into the military you idiot lol. They're even being allowed into the navy now.
And just because someone is gay does not mean they would want to have sex with you or anyone else they happen to work with in the military. Get over yourselves.

iinoniphonelol- the bible is something that cannot be backed up with evidence, and therefore cannot be used as a reference for making U.S. law. i'm not sayng that i hate religion- i think it is a good thing for people to be able to have faith in something. but too often, religion has been used as a tool of hate and death, from the crusades to Al Qaeda. in fact, many genocides of the last century had religion as a base. so, while it is good for the individual person to have faith, a government/military run by it will- and has been- catastrophic.
Yeah, but as the guy rightly quotes, even God is not tolerant of certain things. The Bible is a manual on how to live together in a clean and just society as well as what is morally right and wrong.
Another thing...loads of people here defending gays but how many of the male posters would mind if their sons annouced that they were gay? I can hear loads of them saying "I've nothing against gays" out loud, but to themselves: "Sure hope junior doesn't turn out to be queer..."
Being tolerant of gays is one thing. Having to be around them all the time like in a military setting is another. I think that they should allow gays in the military but put all those fags on in the same troop. Then they can just screw themselves over instaed of everyone in the military.

think of it this way if u dont like gays let them in the fucking military because odds are when the survivours come home u might just have a few less gays. :P you should feel great ful that anyone especially gays are willing to lay down thier life to protect homophobic ungratefull assholes like urself.
And another thing. A book cannot possibly contain all of the teachings of God. Words are a human invention and God uses many other forms of communication as words are easily misunderstood, especially after 2000 (and in some cases 3) thousand years later. But we all know God is much older than that. Written word is not.
if some force was invading your country evryman women and child would have a go but it could be problematic to invade others. the disunity thing.(maybe were not ready for it yet)..just an opinion
