Is it normal to not want a job/career?

I am young, and in a couple years I might have to pursue a career. I've never had a job before, but from what I've heard from people they aren't much fun. I just want to do what I want to do, without any restrictions from anyone. I've been thinking lately about some professions that fit my interests and I just can't seem to find one. I'd rather live my life without work, but I know that isn't practical within this type of society if I want to survive.

Is not wanting a job/career normal? What should I do? Is there even a way to live without work (without being homeless)?

If you don't make dollars then you don't make sense.

Please, Please do us all a favor and get out of the jean pool. There's to many of worthless F-g people on this earth like you. Your parents did a wonderful job, with your worthless ass. Good luck dumpster drive actually has become a common city event throughout the country for scumbags like yourself. Good luck!!

Find what you love & look for a way to make money doing it; you'll never work a day in your life!

I know exactly how you feel. I would rather it be like in the old, less civilized days when we didn't have to work for a medium (money) to buy things we need, but instead worked together and shared what we collectively made or acquired.

Sadly the dollar runs this world and if you want to get ahead of life, you got to pick up the rope and join us in our glorious tug of war.

There are ways to live with out working. I don't have a job, but it's not really how I set out to live my life, it just kind of worked out that way. If my fiancé and I are in a position where we need more income, I'll get a job.

I hate that I have to work too, but unfortunatly, it's required. At the age of 19, I'm just trying to find a part-time job to pay for school, etc. that's the kind of job I hate. But, hopefully, one day, I will follow my dreams and do what I want to do in life. I'm a very creative person and I know I want to be a writer/filmmaker but it's just the process of how I will make that happen that worries me. Just remember, a job is a job but a career doesn't have to be which mean, if you're doing something you enjoy then there's not much to worry about.

I like to be productive and I know what I enjoy, so having a job for me is only really not enjoyable when I want to do something else on that particular day.

But some people don't like to work, and some people don't feel that need to own your own, take pride in your own dollar and labor etc. But it's a necessity of life, and it offers you far more in the way of opportunity then sitting on welfare.

It's normal to not want to work. But, to be honest, if you don't support yourself, what are you going to do? Live your life depending on someone else? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like to be that way. I would much rather be independent.

I'd sooner not work and the majority of people in this country don't work. Sadly, I'm in the minority that has to. Given that I have to work, I found something to stretch me, educate me, and interest me.

If you're motivated enough and have something you can do that is of value, why not set up your own company?

Yes, a lot of people would like to not have a job and frolic around fields and whatnot. However, I don't think you can get away with doing that, you need to pull your weight. I'm sure there's a job out there you'd like and is attainable, try looking for one. Anyway, I'm sure that there isn't a job that you'd completely hate.

It's normal to want to live just for fun and joy, with no responsibilities like work.

However, welcome to reality, as you figured out, it doesn't work that way. And it's not just this society, you will have to "earn your bread" in ANY society, because all of them look down on parasitic individuals that don't contribute in any form.

Look at it this way: You already don't like work, how would you like having to work for you AND someone else that doesn't want to pull their own weight? Right.

Arguably, some jobs are less "work" and more...something else. E.g. prostitution or musicians...but in both cases your situation is not exactly better.
