I think its what he represents. He represents a world where if a kid is marketed right to the tween (early teen) market, he can become an overnight sensation. Whereas plenty of talented musicians struggle their whole careers for recognition. I think the hatred stems from many people's frustration at the mainstream and the commercial world we're living in.
Fantastic man. You just banged the nail right on the head. I was actually looking for a good way to tell people this but couldn't really think of what to say. And the funny thing is; he's probably a decent singer. I just despise everything he stands for.
Yeah; because really, and unfortunatly, it's about money. No one seems to care about the arts anymore, but there's always been teen idols only famous for their tween/teen fanbase. Just look up Fabian from the 1950's. It seems today however, the market has gotten worse, as even though there were always those annoying tween/teen idols, there was once a time when people had pride in the arts and music itself.
This^^^^Pretty much as perfect an answer as i've ever seen.
Even if he didn't mention the obvious nostril implications.
I really don't like his music, but I don't have a problem with him as a person. To me he seems like a regular kid who got the opportunity to make tons of money, if somebody came to you and told you they can make you into a multimillionaire before you hit 18, I think most of the people would agree to blow a goat online for that kind of money. Its not like he ruined the music, that's just the kind of music teens want today, and when there is a demand, there is a supply. It also works with books, while there are so many beautiful classics written by Agatha Christie, Jules Verne, Mario Puzo and countless others, the best selling books are the ones aimed for teens, such as Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc...
One thing I'll say in favor of Bieber, its better that girls in their early teens listen to something like "baby baby baby oooh" rather then "to the window, to the wall, to the sweat drop down my balls'
Even though I used to love the song "To the window to the wall..." when I was 10,lol, you made a good point in what you said.
The last bit of your comment changed my whole view of his music. I guess it really wouldn't be right to hate him when you look at it like that. He is a good alternative for young people then a lot of the music out there. That doesn't make me think he's any good though.
I don't get it either. I'm not keen on his music but at least he is a genuine artist not like the other 90% of manufactured teeny bopper boy band shit. I think he might have started just by playing his jams on YouTube.
Perhaps the haters are just uncomfortable with their own sexuality.
Same reason everyone hates Twilight. He is overrated and his music is not even that great. He has made a few goods song but really its not something to die for. Yet people act like his music is the most beautiful thing in the world. The same old replayed "I love you song" played by every other boy band we have had.
I could never stand anyone who pukes on stage in front of thousands of fans. gross!
Yeah, I agree with you. Like, I am, in no sense, a Justin Biebeer fan, and he kind of annoys me too, but I don't worry about him. It seems his haters are more obsessed with him than he is. I say, if you don't like someone, then don't listen to them. If little girls like him, let them. There always has been and always will be teen idols that tween girls are obsessed with. You can go all the way back to Frank Sinatra if you want! That's how things have always been, and soon someone else will come and take his place. Justin Bieber jokes aren't even that funny anymore because people where it out. Okay, everyone, you don't like Justin Bieber. We get it! Now shut up about it!
I hate him because his music is absolute crap yet he still get millions of fans with no effort while incredible bands with awesome music have worked for years but can barely get recognized. So, for me he's just a more direct object to hate than the horrible tastes of the pathetic masses.
And furthermore he certainly doesn't do himself any favors. Saying things like (and I quote) ""I feel like the Kurt Cobain of my generation, but people just don't understand me." Just shows how juvenile he is. You can't get famous from mass online media marketing, then declare you're the next Kurt Cobain, a legitimately talented and highly influential musical icon. Beiber is just a pin up boy who has been well produced and marketed. Nirvana/Cobain fans are sensitive and that sorta call wins you no fans. Also posting up a random phone number as your own on twitter and saying call me, and consequently some random old lady who has that number gets bombarded with calls from 14 yr old girls for days on end is really stupid, vain and disrespectful. It's little wonder most people outside of his tween female fan base don't like him.
I have a theory but I can't seem to word it correctly. I'll come back to this.
To be honest, when I'd woken up a bit that day, I realised it was all pretty obvious stuff and not really worthy of posting. It was about how people dissociate themselves with music liked by their younger peers almost as a natural instinct.
While we used to have rites of passage to delineate the way into adulthood, now people are responsible for their own and it usually does involve making a show of dissociating yourself from childish things (Mr. Bieber's music is an obvious target).
