Is it normal to not trust therapists?

Okay, I've been to a therapist before when I was very young, but I kept getting sadder and sadder. My point is, I was wondering if it made sense, because all my therapist ever did was have me repeat what had made me sad. Over and over! I eventually had to stop going because I'd leave crying, but I'd insist to my parents that he was helping!
So, giving my reason for not trusting them, IIN?

You've gotta find the right therapist. Once you do, you'll trust them

My last Pyschiatrist was a man and I went to him for years. Anyway, it got to the point where I couldn't trust him at all (tricking me to say I was suicidal, repeatedly asking me if I was doing drugs, etc) My family only saw the light when he refused to write me a emergency prescription-_- Now, I'm on the search for a new one, hopefully a female and I hope my life won't be damaged from the sessions. >_<

Do not look for a new one. They do not want to help you. Why do you think they would trick you? They want money. They make money off of prescribing you pills and setting new appointments. Think about it like this. If you are never better you never stop paying. Try finding a support group. None of them are any good I can tell you that. They do not care about us.

How true, which was why I'm looking for a therapist. Apparently, they aren't qualified to write out prescriptions. I really don't want to deal with them again, but my main doctor and my family have been forcing me into getting a knew one. When it comes to doctors, its like having a garden. You could have a few healthy flowers, but they'll always be some weeds you'll have to worry about.

Well you have this impression that they are just weeds when the whole garden has been over thrown with weeds but how old are you? If you are an adult ignore your family you do not have to go to the doctor if your of age tell them to go to hell.

I'm in my late teens. The main reason I have to find a new one is because I let slip to my physician some of my symptoms and she's been getting on our asses for me to find a new doctor:/

You know after 18 you can just tell them to fuck themselves. Legally unless you try to kill someone or commit scuicide or something extremly severe they can not make you. Tell them to leave you alone. When I became an adult I told everyone to go to hell and they left me alone about it. Since by law I can refuse treatment now. You can not refuse treatment as a child and you have to let them do whatever god awlful expirement they want on you. Not as an adult. So stand up for yourself.

  • I had two during high school. One thought I was on drugs, and when I told them something that happened like when I almost strangled my step father to death, he gave this "Ugh, shut up, you're lying" look to me, which made me think, hold on, I'm supposed to be here for this stuff, then you don't believe me when I tell you? The other thought I would be a good Buddist.

I think the one that thought I was on drugs thought I had no confidence, which is why I didn't want to communicate with people, but really, and they must be bad at their job for not noticing, I just didn't want to talk to people because none of them interested me.

From my experience, they're terrible, but that may just be the ones I had.

They did not say you were lying? your therapist thought you were lying? What kind of ass says no you are lying? Anyways over all I think this would prove even more they are a bunch of fat headed idiots. No it is not just you and not just that one the whole field is filled with useless therapists‘. I took a psychology course and the first rule they teach is " Do not be biest" Yet therapists have a secret agenda they try to push. They will not see outside their own little world. They have a superiority complex. They act like they are Gods they think they have to right to do whatever they please. They do not care about you me, that sad kid or their depressed clients. They are useless and just want more money.

      • They were terrible. They pulled me out of class to see them countless times for nothing.
I agree that they are pretty much useless. I was able to fix myself far better than any therapist could.

Usually they are there to just listen to you vent and make suggestions, for some it helps a lot as family members and friends can say things that dont help, and the therapist isn't going to cut you off or have a bias opinion.

I don't trust my therapist, but that's because she'd say things like "oh poor baby!" And I wanted to punch her. That didn't get shit accomplished and I only stuck with her because I felt bad for hating her. Nice lady, bad therapist.

That said, normal, but look for a different therapist. Many of them have different styles of therapy and I think I understand what you're therapist was doing as it is something that they do to PTSD victims as well, make them talk about their experience over and over again until it becomes less painful.

    Find someone else.
