What's bad is that when you talk about dog fighting, and not just two dogs getting at it in the courtyard because one pissed on the others' tree but actual DOG FIGHTING, you are talking about a very barbaric level of animal abuse.
These people take dogs as puppies, abuse them and mistreat them so as to purposely breed in them violent tendencies that CAN NOT be reversed. They keep them in cages and locked away until some paying customers come along...
Then they release them into an arena where customers take bets on which dog rips the other apart first. The dogs often scar, maim and sometimes kill each other for the sake of entertainment.
Know what happens after they are seized? Many of them get put to sleep because they are so violent that they can not function with your regular household. They live terrible lives being abused, ripped apart and mistreated only to be put to sleep because they are forced to develop violent tendencies that they can't recover from.
Michael Vick had an upwards of 51 DOGS retrieved from his home when he was caught. 51 DOGS! Most, if not all of which were subject to horribly harsh conditions and for what, so a bunch of trashy fuckwads could place some bets on which dog would destroy the other?
It's sick and disgusting and it uses a dog's predatory nature against them. When we talk about dog fighting, we are not talking about a couple of dogs going at it, we are talking about horrible treatment, injections, abuse and neglect the likes of which most decent people couldn't conceive of doing to a dog.
