Is it normal to not tell your partner about your diseases?

I'm 22 and male and was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was 19, I've been with my SO for a little over a year and have never told them that I have it. I take medicine 4 times a day for it so I'm definitely stable and it's not like my illness could effect them in anyway. I just felt no need to tell them that I'm a schiz. I don't think I'm being secretive or sneaky, I just don't tell them. Am I wrong?

It's a pretty big thing, even if under control.

Would you want to be with someone who was keeping a big, important fact about them secret from you?

More importantly, if you then found out they hadn't told you...how would you feel about having your trust disregarded?

You should let him know, if he finds out you've been keeping it from him he'll get angry

Yeah, that is your business. I am the type of person who likes having everything out there, but if it doesn't feel like its something you want to get off your chest then she doesn't need to know.
The only other thing I can think of is if down the line you two ended up being married then of course it would come up, and in that case you maybe would want to say something sooner.
But yeah, I'm not sure what I would do, but I don't think you're being secretive or sneaky either.

I also have a mental disorder, bipolar one. I have found from experience that it is better to tell them about it if you're serious about the relationship. If they're serious as well then they have a right to know just in case an episode does occur. If they love you then they'll accept it, in time or right away.

you should tell them, this is really big and what happened if you just happen to have an attack of some sort. You been with them quite long so it's good to tell them i mean, they would be in shock but, that's normal esp. after you kept it hidden for so long.
