Is it normal to not smoke weed but think it should be legalized?

I don't smoke, but I always wonder why it's illegal. Cigarettes are much more damaging to your body, yet they're legal and bought everyday. I also feel like the government legalizing weed could help the economy surge, because damn, if it was legal even I'd buy it! Who wouldn't!? (Besides Christians.) So why not legalize, or at least make cigarettes illegal since they're actually worse? I mean, if the United States is a free country, adult citizens should be able to do the things that they want.

I'm sort of neutral about the issue. It's not my thing, but weed isn't a hardcore drug. And like you mentioned, people do have the right to make their own choices.

I don't smoke it and wouldn't smoke it if it was legal. It's just not for me, but I support making it legal and not for the argument you present. I just don't think it should be illegal.

I'm from the Netherlands where weed is legal (ive never smoked it but most people have) and it does have some benefits.. first of all it gives relief to people who are in a lot of pain and who are sick, like people going through chemo. also people who are high are not agressive or horrible in any way theyre just well stoned i suppose. this means that he police can go after actual criminals and not arrest anyone who has a joint on them wich also equals our prisons being closed all over cause we don't have enough criminals to fill m anymore :D it should DEFFINETLY be legalized over there and that its not is absolute bullshit.. thank god i live in happyville

By the way, Ron Paul wants it legalized. If you really want it legalized, he's our best chance right now.

I don't smoke either and I support legalization. I certainly don't support making cigarettes illegal though, or comparing drugs/alcohol and saying 'well, this one's worse...'. Why would you support legalizing one drug yet bash others or suggest they should become illegal?? Yeah, because being illegal really matters as far as availability....Let's turn more people into criminals! Trade our weed prisoners for cigarette pirates!

I'm just trying to say it makes no sense that weed is illegal yet cigarettes aren't. Either both should be legal or illegal, not one or the other.

I don't consider marijuana and cigarettes to be in the same category. I think it's a closer comparison to compare marijuana to alcohol because they both leave you in an impaired condition for a period of time.

I was thinking that they both damage your lungs, but that's good too, you're right.

  • Theres too much money in the tobacco industry to make cigarettes illegal. Plus its hard to tax weed.

    I don't understand why it's illegal either.

weird world huh? Think about how alcohol is legal, yet it causes so many crimes, makes people do silly things they regret but yet weed is illegal. Have you ever heard of 'I just bet them up/ done an armed robbery etc because I was soo stoned' I dnt think so aye. Owell makes you thin about the world we live in...

Why is it illegal you ask? Because the fda (food and drug administration) did not approve it.
The only substances that can be approved by authorities are the one that have a, at least from the their point of view based on the data and the assumptions they do, a positive impact on the health of the nation. The economic side of the whole thing is not a priority. Unless some unscrupolous business man is falsifing the results of a field trial or a research in order to put on the market something just to raise money.
It is illegal because in fact, most people using it suffer plenty of damage and are quite impaired by it.
Of course these people take into consideration all the aspects of this subject. Such as: behaviorally speaking, these potheads, are more or less dangerous to themselves and others than alcoholics? How can we contain the phenomenon? do consumes increase or decrease amongst the population when we allow pro cannabis messages to get on the air? How does this increase impacts society? And all that crap.
Of course if you ger high then start doing bullshit and acting like you just have been given authorization to behave like an idiot just because you took a few puffs out of a joint, you definitely ain't helping the decriminalization movements. You just ruin the reputation of every other weed smoker in the country, just because to you, weed, is a party drug. Something to take whenever you feel like "freaking out" and stuff, losing control, and allow yourself to be impulsive.
It's not weed being bad it's the way people use it and the purposes they use it for being stupid.

Yes. A truly free country allows its citizens to decide what they put, or don't put, into their bodies.

Well, which country are you talking about?

How are we supposed to know which country you're from?

Plus, men don't have abortions, and a lot of them support it. You don't have to be a smoker to want to legalize weed.

I heard in countries like the UK, America, and France, it is illegal because of political purposes serving particular businesses and ignoring "the greater good."

I think it should be legalized because You always here about people drunk driving and getting into accidents but how often do you hear about people getting into accidents high on weed.

Who says that a Christian can't also be a pothead?

I am a non-smoker by the way, and I agree that pot should be legalized, and especially for medical purposes like cancer, and M.S.

Being high might make it easier to believe in a talking snake for a start.

Legalized weed brings its own problems, but there's a lot of money wasted on chasing weed possession.
