Is it normal to not shave?

Okay so I don't shave anywhere other then my armpits (I'm not a very hairy person, I don't have noticable hair on my face or arms or anything like that). I don't shave my legs or my private area. The reason I never shaved my legs is because my mom never really incoraged it infact she discouraged it. She said you can barley even notice it and it is something that is just a big hassle and after you start you wont be able to not do it because it will grow back fast and darker. But I notice the hair on my leg and am self concious but I just never thought about it before latley. As for my my pubes I'm afraid to cut myself down there.
I'm think about in the summer starting to shave my legs because my leg hair (no matter what my mom says) is faily noticable (it's not blonde hair its brown).
So is it normal to not shave anywhere except my armpits?

    God I hate shaving. It's such a pain. I only do it when I have a hot date and I don't want to look like a cavelady...but now that it's winter I literally go weeks without it.

    It's normal to be self conscious of your leg fur, and shaving really isn't THAT much of a hassle. Try it. It always can grow back out. It just feels thicker at first because you
    Sever the hair shaft with a razor blade. It gets soft again.

    Stuff the boys I say! You do what's right for you.

    Fwiw, I've always shaved my legs, and I regret it. I have brown hair and had hardly noticeable leg hair. But it's a lot thicker and longer now.

    I would start shaving your legs, most of the guys REALLY DON'T like it

    To each their own you do what makes you happy and be yourself abd dont worry about what other people say.
    And as for guys hey some like it each way. Everyone is different so be yourself and let someone like you for who you are.
    I knew a girl in high school never shaved her legs yet she was so amazingly self confident all the guys chased her anyway.

    The idea that hair grows back faster/thicker/darker, etc. after shaving is a myth.

    It's personal preference, shaving won't make the hair grow back quicker or darker. The hair grows at a steady rate and nothing can make it speed up or slow down. I am a hairdresser and if I could speed up Hair growth I'd be rich! It's just when you shave your legs it appears to grow quicker as it will come back within a few days, maybe sooner, but hair only grows a certain length before falling out, so if you stop shaving it will get no longer than before.
