Is it normal to not say hello?
My uncle has been estranged for the last ten years. We do not talk about the issue so the details of the separation are vague. I have seen him maybe twice in the last ten years and spoken very little each time. We used to talk all the time until he moved out and stopped appearing at family events. This weekend he came to his daughters birthday family party. No one meantioned he would be there. When I arrived and saw him there I was shocked. My dad motions to my uncle and asks me if I've said hi yet. I don't know how to react to him being there so I brush off the topic and practically ignore the fact that he's there. Rude, maybe, but I was caught off guard. I feel bad about it. I have no idea if this is a step to reintergrate him into the family and have some minor anxiety about it. IIN?
