people don't believe me but I can remember being two years old and sleeping in a crib. I have a terrific long term memory but a horrible short term. It's really a curse because I have tons of negative memories and when i think them they hurt as bad as they did when it happened
if you were stimulated with daycares and preschools and stuff chances are you'll remember more then if you are at home doing the same things because if you dont have variation in your early life your brain doesnt see a point in remembering it because nothing important happens
No its probably normal unless you had something unpleasent happen to you when you were younger and your mind has shut out everything since that event.
Im 45 and can remember way back to 1967 when i was a 3 year old walking along with my mother and my younger brother in a pram, and trying with my older sister to get him out of his cot and i was only 4years old at the time.
Some people will claim to be able to remember when they were 12 months old but this is normally a false memory brought on by there parents/grandparents telling everybody how they fell down the stairs when they were 12months old and then they start to imagine that they remembered it.
I would say its unlikely for anyone to remember much at all before the age of 2
Did you get glasses when you were 6 or 7? I did. I was practically blind before them and my memories are hazy pre-glasses.
I can't remember anything earlier than the age 6/7 as well. I think we choose what we believe. Or maybe were just realists. and everyone else makes up memories :P
I feel the same way. I can remember some random events from my childhood but most of my friends don't remember things until it is brought up by their parents and then they suddenly remember everything. Though I do know some people that can remember everything. So i suppose it depends on the situation or person.
Awww same here, i don't think its always bad to not remember because we don't remember for a reason. Hopefully something bad didn't happen to you it's probably best you don't remember..
Memory has nothing to do with intelligence.
Anyway, I can't remember things I did the day before. I have troubles remembering what I did a month ago. And further than that it's a total blank. I can remember a dozen of things from when I was between 0 and 18 (no crap, and they're only bad memories). I think it may be because I never ate any fish until I was around 18 and discovered sushis.
Even then, I have troubles remembering.
Though I have no troubles remembering poetry, books, movies etc... I can't recall my own life except if I'm shown a picture, then I recall everything.
Anyway, back to the point: I think it's normal, memory depends on individuals and I think you are lucky to be able to remember passed 6, because not being able to think about what you did as a kid without having a "trigger" is somewhat bothersome.
I can't remember anything , at all , from 8 and back .
It's all fuzzy until around 12-13 .
I never had the best long term memory , oh well.
I remember back when I was 2 years old. Then again, I could also read when I was 2, so maybe my idea of normal doesn't apply to most people
Killcam, that comment that you wrote shows how boastful, uncaring and just plain rude you are.
P.S: If you claim you can design things better than NASA scientists (who have been training for such a prestigious job for probably more than you've been alive), why don't you get yourself on Oprah and show the world what a prodigy you are or get your arse out of school which seems to be too low for you. And secondly someone with brain damage cannot write - meaning that the author of this story couldn't have wrote this by his/herself. For someone with such high intelligence I'd expected you to know at least that.
I didn't take offense. I'm an extremely intelligent individual and I am not yet out of high school. I am actually currently studying abroad.
I have had some abusive situations in my childhood which caused me to block things out.
On that subject I find it extremely unlikely that you can remember things from such a young age simply being that the memory could of been triggered by home videos and memories you heard from people that knew you at the time. But thank you for answering.
