Is it normal to not play pokemon anymore because of this?

There's 6 things that I believe ruined the series for me:

1) Fairy Pokémon/Reclassifying of older ones into Fairy types.

2) Mega Evolutions.

3) Not efficient "3D".

4) More Pikachu/Gen I pandering.

5) Poor story and villain team.

and

6) Bland and annoying side characters.

Reasons for believing in these factors:
1) Dragons already had weaknesses including those with a 2nd typing. They weren't as "overpowered" as people think and adding another OP type does not fix balancing issues. You just need good strategy to deal with them. Fairy pokemon were completely unnecessary.

2) Digimon rip-off and completely unnecessary. Misses the point of a 2-3 stage evolution. Pokémon can be made stronger by grinding and or/EV boosts.

3) Pokémon Colloseum had far better 3D. Most of X/Y/Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are in 2D akin to Harvest Moon.

4) While Pikachu is the mascot of the Pokémon franchise, the yellow rat already got pandering in both the TV series and Pokémon Yellow. It's simply unjust to have it have it's own unique cry again while all the others just have their ordinary sounds. Second, there's no sense in pandering to Gen I fans by offering them the original starters when they can just play Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red or Leaf Green.

5) When it comes to Gen V's plot, Gamefreak knew what they were doing and they did it very well and Ghetsis, was actually a decent, intimidating villain. Gen V and previous gens are far superior to Gen 6.

and

6) In previous gens, your rivals/friends were far more interesting. Take N (Natural Harmonia Gropius) for instance. All he wanted was to save his Pokémon friends even though he was lead astray by his father, Ghetsis. In the sequels (B/W 2) he understands that he was mislead and even saves the main character.

All in all, Pokémon X and Y are a total bust and not worth playing, in my opinion. I'm through with playing any new games.

I'm going to be one of those grandpa's that rock back and forth in a rocking chair going:

"When I was your age, there were only 151 Pokémon"

I love Lysandre so much. He's by far the sexiest looking villain to me. Hey, it's my opinion though. Wish there's a man that look like him in real life.

In my opinion, 1st and 2nd season pokemon were original, had great design, and games like Leaf Green were all time classics.
X and Y, you can see how they're running out of ideas. The pokemon look fucking horrible, and they're focussing on making it look pretty rather than what made the games popular in the first place; gameplay and originality. They could have evolved games like leaf green, adding hundreds of hours more content, larger maps, better but similar graphics, but no.
I don't mind 3D, but mind X and Y. For example, Stadium games on N64 were pretty nice.
I'll certainly wait many years till I get round to X and Y, or the later seasons of the show. It's shifted from Western more and more towards Asian origins, and I don't like this new spin on things.
In the meantime, there are lots of great fan projects; Go on youtube and type in 'Pokemon Generation' (development has been stopped) and 'Pokemon 3D' (much like the Gameboy Advance games in terms of graphics, but it's fully 3D. You can even play in 1st person!)
Good luck on your oncoming Pokemon adventures. Perhaps one day we shall battle :)
