Is it normal to not like your food to touch

My friend does not like her food to touch. Sometimes she has multiple plates.

My mom is the exact same way, lol. It's funny, whenever they do touch she gets this terrified look on her face. I screw around with my food, then it looks weird, I still eat it though. lol

I do that to but I think it's a kind of quirk I have cuz I don't like doing the dishes in one big tub of water when all the food gets mixed up.

I have seen people doing this too. There was a woman on a TV show a while ago who did it. She separated all the sub-components of her food and ate them all separately. She described it as "liking to taste each bit of food individually."

My grandad used to eat his dinner and his dessert off the same plate. He'd say it's all going to get mixed up eventually anyway. Maybe we're just getting more fussy. I don't think high end chefs would approve of separating, though. They'd think everything on a plate should work together flavour-wise and should be eaten together.
