I don't like straightened hair. I think it's boring, because it just straight. It's all flat and boring, but most of the people I see have straight hair and I don't know why they spent so much time on making their hair boring......
Basically hair straightening is about conformity and it comes from a biased cultural viewpoint. What I mean is, most people in the world have straight hair, so it's considered the "default" hair and everything else is treated as freakish or a deviation. That's why curly/kinky/nappy haired women are encouraged to straighten their hair (and curly/kinky/nappy haired men encouraged to keep their hair short). This idea of straight hair as being the "norm" or more "put together" only appeared in Africa after it was colonized by Europeans.
IMO if you have curly/kinky/nappy hair you should stay true to yourself and don't let anyone else define beauty for you. If you want to straighten or switch up your style because YOU feel like it, go ahead, but no one should feel pressured to change their hair's natural appearance just to conform to some Eurocentric "beauty ideal" that was decided upon by someone else.
Not everythings about racism, thats complete bullshit. Straight hair being in fashion is a very recent thing, in the 80s for example curly hair was massive and people were way more racist then, it's just in fashion at the moment. As a girl I straighten my hair because it feels nicer to touch and it makes it longer.
Do you have naturally straight hair? Girls who have straight hair want curly hair, and girls who have curly hair want straight hair. It's just the way it goes.
Weeelll I straighten my hair because it generally sucks. At the moment it's to short to form curls that actually look good and half the time my curls end up looking like dreads anyways or they just sorta poof and do an Afro sort of thing... It isn't very pretty. So I straighten my hair so that it looks ok and is semi-manageable
In the eighteies and early nineties, perms were in. Now, its straight hair. Times change, and, as boring as it may seem sometimes, if you dont keep up with it, you will end up socially like a square peg in a round hole. Sad, but true.
Conformity? Fashion? Ha! I straighten my hair. Yes it takes a long time because I have long hair. But I don't do it on a daily basis. Sometimes I wear it curly. Did you guys ever think that a lot of people do it is because it's a hell of a lot easier to maintain. You don't have to worry about it frizzing out or sticking up in awkward ways. AND YOU CAN BRUSH IT!!!!!! a guy can run his hands through it with out his fingers getting stuck! LOL main point is it's less of a hassle. Fashion & conformity sssssssppppppfffffftttttttt please.

I hate pinstraight hair. Girls have their hair to their backs and straighten it til it lies like a sheet.
I do mine, but my hair's a bob, so i straighten it to have it lie properly and curl at the right places.
I like straight hair =D. Nothing wrong with it I think. I think it's just your taste =)
