Is it normal to not like slang and the way people write now?

First off, I just want to appologize if I make any grammar or spelling mistakes, as English is my 2nd language. But I noticed that in English, everyone write like "gr8" and "luv" and like all of these slang terms, and it bugs me. I get that people write them for fun or on blogs...etc. It is hard enough knowing the langauge by basics, and having to read that. Plus, it just makes the langauge look much pretty if you write correctly.

    I harass my friends about being lazy with slang all the time, because I know that they know perfectly well how the English language works. I am a bit less finicky about texting, seeing as it is sometimes necessary to conserve characters so as to complete the message. Abbreviations, contractions, and the removal of apostrophes from said contractions are the easiest ways to shorten the message while still preserving its meaning and comprehensibility.
    Applying these shortcuts within the context of an e-mail or instant message (unless the aforementioned character limit applies) is what truly annoys me. If they have the typing skills and education to write properly, they should sure as heck do so. It shows that they put some thought into their reply, rather than just skimming and typing back "LOL".

    I agree. We look so lazy when we write "gr8" instead of "great". I mean honestly, it does not take that much more time to put some effort into writing properly. And it looks just plain stupid. I mean, really? "ppl" instead of people? Give me a break. Lazy.

    you spelt "langauge" wrong, it's "language". and i use the word "lub" instead of love so chill the fuck out. uptight a-holes like you is what annoys the shit out of ME. so relax, if the way they write bothers you either ignore it or get used to it.

    I personally don't mind using it or seeing it but I understand why you are bothered by it since English is your 2nd language. I am probably bothered my grammar mistakes such as "there" instead of "they're"
