My gf has a 11 year old sister with downs and she is very round. I am kind of a clean freak and I feel as if she is dirty, and unclean and whenever she hugs or kisses her or anything like that just grosses me out. the girl with downs is also a brat and gets whatever she wants. Should I feel more sympathetic? For some reason I really don't like the little girl. I understand her situation but I feel like the parents don't raise her right. She also wants to hang out with us all the time and is a big ole cock block. She throws a fit over everything and when I go over to my gfs house to get her to help with school work she disrupts us and will not leave us alone. I can't bring myself to feel bad for her and really don't like her. Is that wrong.

    Sister*. Also, I happen to think its not always a bad thing to treat people the same, not matter their disability. My cousin is down sydrome and she was smacked and repramanded the same as the other 4 kids in her family and she's not a spoilt brat. She's well behaved.

    I'm in the same situation with my husband's sister. She's 20 now, but she may as well be 6. She's selfish, annoying, and has poor hygeine. She's also a drain on society, she collects social security checks while watching Spongebob reruns all day.

    So I don't think you're wrong, but you probably won't get much sympathy from most people.
