Is it normal to not know what you want to do in life?

I'm 19, a college dropout, with no qualifications. Sure, i have hobbies and loves, like music, and creative stuff, but no real 'passions' to harness or cling on to like the rest of society. I have no real qualifications that people will want, and haven't really done anything at all with my life. I know where i want to go, but when i get there, i won't have anything to do. Right now, im on benefits, but realisticly, i cant stay on them forever.

Bottom line: Is this normal? And got any tips for somoneone in my situation?

Thanks,

    The Rules Are:

    1) Survive in good health.
    2) Reproduce; but not to the extent of overpopulation and the detrimental effects thereof.
    3) Learn about this Earth / Universe in whichever field(s) of study best suits you.
    4) Work smart and efficiently, but a little hard work now and again is probably a good thing too.
    5) Be happy, keep a good sense of humour and enjoy the pursuits of life (recreation).
    6) Try to get along with others. If you can't get along, graciously walk away or try to negotiate a mutually agreeable separation
(friendship, family, love and property, etc.).
    7) Be charitable, but not to the point of dependency (A hand up is better than a hand-out).
    8) Do not impose your beliefs on others. Healthy discussion / debate is allowable.
    9) Live within your means. Try to live a moderate life. Do not overindulge.
    10) Be honest with yourself and others. Be polite and courteous with others.
    11) Conserve energy and resources. Limit your use of plastics.
    12) Be respectful of the natural environment. Do your part to prevent / control the spread of exotic and invasive flora and fauna. Encourage natural biodiversity.
    13) Do not submit to corruption and criminal intent.
    14) Use violence only in cases of self-defense, last resort or pre-emptive measures.
    15) Make a plan. (For all applicable points above).
    16) I freely admit that I have not fullfilled all of the above (to the letter), but that I try to do my best.

I like how you constantly disobey rules #8 and #10...while abusing others on this site for supposedly violating them :D

      It's cute.

You also seem to be in violation of the good humour part of rule #5. And of rule #6.

I will raise a successful defence on any such violation (said with a smile and a chuckle).
Please do not use any form of 'obedient' in reference to the Rules, as this is submissive. Please use 'violate' and it's forms instead.

Thanks guys. I know that once i KNOW what to do, however long that takes, and when i find a passion, i know i will be on a straigher path, and get my life on track. The problem is, im scared that day will never come.

You're not the only one, mate. Do something, anything. Make art, learn a new language, whatever. Get a job, even if it's a lousy one. It's normal not to know what to do in life, but you need to make sure that you're capable of making it on your own.

I'm in the same boat it sounds like. I have absolutely no ambition or goals in life. I've tried many things since I was finished highschool and nothing has worked out. I seriously do not think I will ever be happy in a future career so why even bother trying to get a specific one. Sadly I cannot give you any advice seeing as I am at the same "wall" in life. Hopefully you do find something though, it really sucks feeling this way. I honestly feel like I am just a waste of space right now.
