Is it normal to not have seen each other after 6 weeks of texts,calls?

I have been talking and texting this guy for about six weeks.We have yet to see each other. I live on the West Coast and he lives on the East Coast. He has told me 3 or 4 times that he will be here in a certain amount of days. Then days maybe a week before he changes it to another week or two. He does work a lot.He told me it was normal to go all this time without seeing each other. My comment back was this does not feel normal.

    It's completely normal! You two have only known one another for 6 weeks...that's a short amount of time! Use this time to get to really know one another, take things very slow! Waiting months or a year down the line is more like it!

    6 weeks and never to have face to face contact and acting as if it's a relationship? That is like developing a crush on an actor in a sit com. A person can say in Text pre-rehearsed and clever quips written for glory and ego-stroking. It is not the real person.

    I fell in love with a guy through text and we previously HAD spent time together and HAD mutual friends . When we got together in our real lives it was, well, kind of- boring. And he tried too hard to entertain me instead of just letting it be.
