Is it normal to not have many friends in high school and college?

I'm currently a sophomore in college. I get decent grades, but unlike most of the other people I know, I don't like to go out to parties and get drunk all the time. This results in me not having any real friends, so every weekend I usually just sit in my dorm and study all night. Now that it's valentine's day I am even more depressed because I haven't even had a girlfriend yet, and I'm wondering when that time will come.

I just want to know if there are many other people in my situation. A lot of people keep on calling me wierd since I haven't had a girlfriend yet and I don't have any real friends, but for some reason I think that there are many others who are in my situation btu just don't want to admit it.

    You will get a girlfreind.in a few years,a model or actress etc. will take 1 look at you and the sucessful life you lead, how together and great your life is, and want some of that for herself.I'm the same way,just DONT LOSE HOPE! Hope that helps :)

    There are others in your situation...I'm one of them. I had a few friends in high school and almost none in college. Of course, I can't tell you whether or not we're "normal."

    I also don't go to parties or drink, so that may be the deciding factor. I'd wager neither of us would enjoy ourselves at a wild, drunken party, so this may very well be for the best.

    I am in the same boat as you I don't know what exactly to call us but I don't think we exactly fit the criteria for "normal". I had almost no friends in highschool and only have aquaintances in college no friends yet, then again I am still in my first semester at college. It's better to study anyway than party, I wouldn't feel comfortable at a party with a bunch of people that are drunk and high anyway!

    Worry. Having no friends makes you depressed and unwilling to work. Then you fail your degree and cry yourself to sleep. I'm on the verge.
