I feel closer to strangers sometimes than my own family. I can't remember the last time either of my parents told me they love me, & God forbid they ever try & show it through a hug. I am the eldest daughter of four & the younger ones get all the love in the world. Never been a trouble maker either. I dont understand...
Me and my mother (I call her Cindy) can't be in a room without a fight happening, I can't tell my sister anything because i feel uncomfortable around her, My other sister thinks i'm retarded because she doesn't have a sense of humor, my dad has another family and wife (He cheated on her with my mom) I can no longer visit my grandmother and grandfather because my child molesting uncle lives there, and wants to kill me for sending him to jail, I don't talk to most my cousins because some live in differant states or are just annoying and stuck up... Yeah, I think your normal :D
My friends are my family. My parents were not great at showing affection when I was growing up. (not that they were bad parents) Although now that they have grandchildren they have started ending phone conversations with "I love you."
Did they have you at a young age? sometimes when that happens, the parents are too afraid to become parents and are not sure how to show affection to a child, As the child gets older, he or she learns how to do stuff on their own and the parents are releaved from some of the work, never actually giving them a chance to bond with their child... I'm not too sure what to say, because I'm not sure they will get over it, since your already older. I bet if you really think about it, they DO love you, they just don't know how to show it. :D
