Is it normal to not have an appetite or craving??

hey there fellow readers. i would like to know if i am normal for not having an appetite or craving. i dont know if its from depression (because lately ive been feeling a little bit down), but is that some sort of eating disorder? i know eating disorders have to with mental aspects which is what depression mainly is, but i dont know if its a type of disorder. And when people are usually depressed dont they tend to eat more?

When some people are sad, they tend to comfort eat.
But with actual depression, it is very common to lose your appetite.
Also, if you've been insecure about your body.

I've got an eating disorder, but I don't think mine is really depression related.

Do you smoke or drink coffee?

I drink about 1-2 cups a day. My appetite can be cut for hours, but it seems to be mostly with milk in it.

It could be a eating disorder stemming from the depression. Depression is curious and it effects people differently. For example, when people get depressed of the death of a loved one. Some might eat as a result of it and become fat, while some in reverse tend to stop having an appetite.

Exactly how long have you been feeling this way? Have you ever had periods of this or is this the first time it has happened? You could just find eating to be a waste of time, but I've noticed that most people that feel that way have felt that why for a long time.

People don't necessarily eat more when they are depressed. Some lose their appetite. A side effect of some meds is loss of appetite, aka anorexia, not to be confused with anorexia nervosa.

Oh I see. I've never had the problem of needing to gain weight. I imagine its pretty hard to do it right without just getting fat. Maybe the right proteins and excersise with weights.

  • Idk if it's normal or not. I kind of have been having the same problem. I feel fine mentally and emotionally but recently I've just stopped eating. Sometimes I only eat one small meal in the morning and I won't be hungry for the rest of the day.
