Is it normal to not have a period?

I'm 18 and my last period wa almost TWO years ago while I was on birth control. Before taking the birth control, I had ONE cycle that lasted less than three days and I was 15 at the time.

If I'm not taking some type of BC I don't have a period at all. No cramps, headaches, bloating, etc. Should I be worried about complications later on down the road? Is there no medical need for a period or is that a myth?

Please see your doctor. I don't think that's normal.

Definitely not good at all, I think that the birth control pills may have interfered with your hormones making you have irregular periods.

I don't want to alarm you sweetheart, but please visit your Doctor and tell him/her what you have told us. It's easy to bury your head in the sand, (I'm not going to pretend I've done it) but it needs seeing in to. Good luck. Let us know how you get on. xx

I suppose another check up would be good. I've been told by my family doctor that it's because I'm stressed. I'll visit a specialist.

Missing a few periods is normal due to stress. A whole two years is something to be worried about. You know what might help though, is exercise. I was very stressed and missed about 2 periods in a row. The things that started those lovely cramps up again was a good cardio work out.

I would see your doctor about that. I did not have my period for four months. I lost 45 pounds in a very short period of time, my lowest weight being 95 lbs. Now, my periods only last for two days out of the month, and I am 105.

Apparently if your body fat percentage is lower than 20% you wont get a period. Could that be it?

    Go get it checked out.

I have gone the last six months without mine. I need to start taking my medication again :/

It's a sign there's something wrong. Two years is a LONG time.
