Is it normal to not go to parties that i'm invited to?

I get invited to parties from friends all the time, but then I end up not wanting to go. It's usually because I'd rather stay home and watch TV or go on Tumblr, or because I hate being a socially awkward and self-conscious butt. I just like being alone a lot. I guess I just don't like parties but I feel bad because my friends always get mad when I don't go.
I have quite a lot of friends, but I feel like if I don't go to their parties they'll neglect me. Is this normal? :C

    If you don't want to go, don't. It's no big deal, just do other things with your friends and if all they do is go to parties, well they are probably fairly boring anyways. I learned this a few years ago and am much happier for it, I also haven't lost any friends because of it.
