Is it normal to not feel much when a loved one gets hurt or dies?

My Grandma recently suffered a stroke, but I didn't feel much when I received the information, she's not responsive. My great uncle also died and I didn't feel a ton then even when I loved him.

People deal with grief in different ways. The whole "5 stages of grief" isn't really a good indicator of how everybody processes it. Some people do just go straight to acceptance. As long as you aren't doing anything that unhealthy to deal with it, like drinking or drugs, then it's fine.

You can't escape the 5 stages of grief. Most people thinking they can are either not grieving or in stage 1.

The 5 stages of grief was coined in 1969 based on a how terminally ill patients felt about their condition. That is not a good indicator of how the average person would feel about grief in general.

Terminally ill can be used as an example. Humans have a behaviour pattern when they are grieving, whether it is about their own health or not. When they are grieving, they switch between the 5 stages but they never go straight to stage 5.

That's wrong. You can skip any of the stages, go backwards, or stay on one for extended periods of time. The acceptance stage is all about accepting that an event happened and focusing on moving forward. Someone can do that right after a loved one has passed on or diagnosed with a terminal illness.

That's impossible. They're going to one of the 4 first stages first, even if it's just for a few hours.
