Well as I have aged it's seems like I really don't care about the commercials for donating money for hungry african kids. I know it's seems jacked up but if I said I do care I'd be telling a lie.
Am I a shallow person or is this normal these days?
I think it's normal these days to have no compassion. With any luck, no-one cares about you, either.
It's normal to not care about populations living 1000s of miles a way with nothing more than a televised image to relate to. As people extend further away from you, socially, the less you'll tend to care about them. And for the majority of Westerners, Africa's africans are among the furthest away you can socially get.
On one hand i care when i see the short film I saw today where a child had lock jaw and bite through his own tongue. the poor child didn't deserve that and my heart goes out to each and everyone of the children who have to suffer in Africa. But on the other hand how dare the adults in Africa continue to pump out babies like rabbits breeding? I know and understand that this example is different, but if I couldn't easily feed myself or my wife I wouldn't bring a child into the world. i know that lock jaw isn't what the adult plans but come on now. No money + No job + no food = hardship and suffering. And then I see celebraties on telly like David Tennant saying give some money don't be that person. No I won't!
Pumping money into an environment where a constant problem is occurring seems to be a work around. I want to help fund the cure?
It's called social darwinism. When one society lacks the ability to provide a decent living to it's people, they fail, decay and pass away. It is my opinion that those societies which history has condemned must fail to provide room for superior peoples (Amercian colonization is a good example).
Ever since I was a boy I've herd about the starving In Africa it started for me When I was at school some 40 years ago ever since the White mans been trying to save then from them selfs. Breading like rabbits because they don't have tv or sky. No condom so they send use aids. Don't feel bad leave them to self destructed. The one who escapes to civilisation complain the White man has better jobs & house than them they are never happy

Right, you clearly have no idea. You've obviously never studied geography/sociology, or why AIDs or poverty exists. Or psychology, why "the White man" (westerners, chief) are "never happy". So please, don't try talk about it, you're making yourself sound stupid.
No, it's not normal to not care at all. Everyone I know cares a little bit (well, everyone who isn't a self-obsessed jackass).
