Is it normal to not enjoy the booze anymore?

I used to have a lot of fun being drunk in the past, but lately I've noticed that I don't enjoy it anymore, the alcohol just makes me sleepy and/or dizzy. IIN?

Same way for me. I've become much more of a smoker than a drinker lately. I've been going lightly on alcohol gearing up for my 21st.

Never got into drinking. I don't see where poisoning your body and being out of touch with yourself is enjoyable. The former reason is also why I don't smoke.

Altering your state of mind doesn't always "put you out of touch with reality."

But I'm not going to say it enhances it. It just makes things different. And altering your perception, whether it be with alcohol or marijuana (or any other substance)can be either a very positive or very negative experience. As far as poisoning your body goes, some people think its worth it. Others don't. And not every drug poisons your body. Prescription drugs do more damage than weed ever can.

  • I grew out of it in my mid-twenties. It`s normal and healthy.

The effect alcohol has on mood acts for longer when you first start drinking. The window narrows and narrows until it's eventually nothing if you keep on drinking the same way. If you want it back, either take a couple of months away from alcohol, drink at a different pace or try a different type of drink. I know, logically, drinking something different shouldn't make a difference but it really does.
