Is it normal to not be able to tell women apart?

Hi I am Asian and I can't help but notice that I cannot tell one stranger woman from another. To me they all appear the same perhaps because of the trend style everyone is following. For men it is easy to tell them apart (except some Korean men. Can't tell if they are male or female anymore) yet for females they all look the same. Only difference is their height. Aside from that, appearance-wise they seem to be similar to one another. Is it normal to not be able to tell them apart?

A lot of them make a calculated effort to dress the same yet try and "stand out from each other by buying different clothes from the same kinds of shops and having their hair and make-up done similarly.

(I find this happens far more with white women than Asian ones, personally.)

TL; DR - Yes it's normal and no you're not the only one

Are you referring to women of a specific race, or women in general?

    • Just specific Asian race. Well caucasians as well sometimes.

Hm. I suppose that depending on the denomination of Asian, that that wouldn't be completely abnormal. :)

yeah... unfortunately its normal not to be able to tell us females apart. and even the height can be the same with those platform pumps (heels) that most of us seem to be wearing these days. you bring up a great point. females are lacking individuality. most people are afraid to break away from the norm becuase they dont know what type of attention it will bring. by the way i'm female. however if you look closer - at the curve of the eyes, how they are set in the her head, the length of the nose, length of space between the eyes, curve of the lips, hair line, forehead shape (round or flat), cheekbones (pronounced or subtle), mouth width, etc, you'll start to see the differences and will be able to tell them apart. you gotta know how to look past the "fluff", which is hair, clothes, make-up, and perfume. try it and let us know how you make out. your post is interesting.

Look up "face blindness". I seem to have some degree of this. With both genders though. I've heard it's not uncommon for people to have a hard time telling people from other races apart, and while this is also true for me, even among my own race (I'm white) there seem to be just a few of the same appearances. Probably blonde people (especially blonde females) are the main ones that look basically the same to me. I've even embarrassingly enough mixed up people due to looking too similar. If I've known someone closely for long enough, I learn to tell who's who though.
