Is it normal to not be able to sleep while a family member is dying?

My granny is dying in hospice. She helped my parents raise me. I was a sick baby and needed a heart transplant. I got the heart but it was a fight from day 1. My granny was always there. She has had Alzheimer's disease and now is dying of cancer in hospice. She's 87. But I can't sleep at night. They say she has only days left. I can't sleep. I'm up in the middle of night cooking food and thinking about her. Am I obsessed or normal?
