Is it normal to not be able to look in someone's eye while talking?

Okay, here's the thing. Since I was 13 years old, I haven't been able to look anyone in their eye when I talk to them. And when I catch a glance, I look away quick. Also, usually, when I talk to people, I avoid eyes, and stroke my bangs. Just nervous habit I'm told. So is that normal, or weird? I love to see eye colors and such, but I can't look at, living (?) eyes. Photos I can look at, but I feel a little intimidated when someone in life looks in mine. Males especially. Almost exclusively. I have odd-eyes, hazel w/green and brown, and I think that intimidated some girls when younger. They wouldn't look in mine. So, what do you all think about this?

    normal.

    I can't do that well.
    I stare in the eye for a while and look away!

    I just can't keep looking at that person's eye when they talk.

    but you have to look at their eyes when they speak to show sign that "you are listening".

    Zomg same!! Ugh I can't stand it. And a teacher even stopped and told me like to look at him when he was talking. Idky it's just really hard to do:( even though I LOVE eyes

    It may be something connected to the old adage that 'eyes are the windows to the soul'. For instance, maybe on a subconscious level you feel that there is much power in looking someone in the eyes: which there is! It will be something to get over that takes some time. Think of someone you're incredibly comfortable with, and start by looking into their eyes first... Then work from there.

    This could mean your shy or have Asbergers syndrome more than likely your shy.

    Its really fucking anoying how when one story that explains this type of thing comes out the next following day people submit the exact same type of story its like fuck off we heard it once if you want to find out if its normal then check the replies the first person got when he submitted this story
