Is it normal to not be able to hold a conversation?

All my life I couldn't hold my end of a conversation. I could only say words like "yea" or "cool". Everybody thinks I'm dull and boring because I can't say anything fun or interesting. Even to my closest friends. sometimes I feel retarded. Its not that i'm shy its just when I get into a conversation I have nothing to say

haha I always have trouble when people ask me "what have you been up to?" even if I'd been to the moon the previous week, I just go completely blank and have to change the topic lol

I am like that too however, I am improving. It does depend on the personality but what REALLY matters is focus. For me, I always say "yeah" or "okay" or "oh right" because I am still stuck in my head. I'm thinking about other things. I'm not focusing on what is right in front of me therefore, I lack having a conversation in the present. Later, I develop a conversation that could have happened but obviously its too late. So I think the solution here is to start focusing more on what is in front of you and stop being "in your head." And the point is that no its not that you're boring since again, it has to do with focus.

I don't know if it's normal, but I feel the same way. The good news is that many people are more than happy to hear themselves talk, and they may not even notice that you're not contributing. In fact, you may develop a reputation as a fabulous listener.

Just a boring person. That's me too. I wish I had more friends but I'm just kind of boring and can't seem to make conversation. At least u don't go on and on and on about stupid shit that no one cares about. That's the other kind of boring person and they are MUCH worse...I'd rather have a lack of convo with someone than have to listen to all kinds of bullshit from a boring person lol

I do the same thing but not because I'm shy or have nothing to say but because I forget to respond back. I feel impolite because of it. If someone asks, how are you, I would say good and not ask them how they are until I walk away and realize that I forgot.

It's like when you run out of toilet paper but you're not done wiping, you gotta think fast.

Even when I know someone enough to stop being shy they will always say about all the things going on in their lives and I just don't know what to say or how to say it really
