Is it normal to not agree that any fear is illogical ?

Ok , you all know what a phobia is its a fear . However I have been told it is an illogicol fear but than what do you call a legitement fear that can happen ? I think it is stupid to try to label an logicol fear as illogical like the fear of flying " have we not have plane crashes is that not a legitement fear " and the fear of doctors and needles and the fear that the needle may brake off in your arm . Which has been sometimes known to happen with new doctors and nurses . The fear that if you work on a tall tower you may fall off , is thier not a change you may one day trip if you are not gated it ? Am I the only one annoyed by poeples twisted attitude against phobia and fears ?

    A true phobia is actually a clinical disorder and it is an irrational fear. Everybody probably has a fear of being stabbed but it doesn't effect their life. A person with a phobia of being stabbed might possibly never leave their home just to avoid a situation that probably will never happen.

    Let me give you an example.

    Some people have a phobia of beans.
    Some have a fear of planes due to the possibility of the crashing.

    It is possible for a plane to crash.
    It isn't possible for beans to cause you harm.

    See the illogical part?

    Legitimate fears are for when there is a reasonable chance that you could be harmed/killed.

    Statistically the chance of a plane crashing due to mechanical failure/pilot error is still very small; which is why it is illogical to be so frightened of it.

    Jumping from a plane without a parachute is locigally very frightening. Sure one or two people have survived in the past but the majority of people die.

    Some fears that people have ARE illogical. House spiders can't kill you or even harm you in any significant way, so why are some people so afraid of them.

      That isnt true , a black widow can , a wolf spider can , a brown recluse can aswell . I looked all these up by the way my odd hobbys is looking up all the things that could become a hazard to your health but poeple tend to generelize all fears like somthing that can cuase harm as irrationiol and it is very irritating that even poeple in the proffesioniol feailg will label such things as illogicol becuase it is just Wrong , fact is fact also an irritant poeple who mix up fact and opionion are really annoying aswell .

        Okay I'll give you that one about the spiders. I just looked up wolf spider and brown recluse and those could be mistaken for common house spiders. (Maybe it's also because I live in Britain and theres hardly any dangerous spiders here).

        But I still think that some fears are illogical. What about fear of small spaces. Kneeling down in a small enclosed space won't hurt or kill me. Some people still fear it.
