Is it normal to non stop text your friends?

Since iMessage rolled out my friends and I continuously text. I'd say that there are about 300 texts a day. I'm a 31 year old male and this is starting interfer with my work but friends and family are more important than work right?

My friend send pictures of themselves pooping and there are a lot of boobie pics flying around what we like to call "The Thread". We also use icons for our names. My one friend C is Jewish so I call him CJ but I use the icons to visually display his c jewness. I guess I'm just having a hard time balancing it all. I think that this behavior is OK until I reach the age of 35 but this morning I received a pic on "the thread" of Bill Cosby eating a watermelon with no hands. One of my friends on the thread is black. We all agreed the joke pic was not cool. Now "the thread" that was designed to bring us close together is ripping us apart.

    That's just making up excuses to justify unprofessional behavior.

    You work your job so that you have the financial ability to support the family you claim is so important to you. The "family is more important" line is used when SERIOUS issues come up and you have to decide. Using it to justify playing instead of working is a serious problem and could very well cost you your job.

    You are confusing your wants and your needs and using your "family" line to try to justify the imbalance.

    Seriously.... you CAN get fired for this.
    Who will pay your phone bill and feed your important family if your boss cuts you from the payroll for being lazy and unproductive?

    As for your inappropriate messages... Receiving such to your own personal property is fine. You cannot be fired for that alone.

    However if another employee sees the photos you can be legally punished for displaying them. And your boss can fix the issue by banning the use of personal devices while on the clock.

    I had two friends like this. I had to buy a wireless keyboard for my phone just to keep up with them. I hated it. I didn't feel like I got a minute's peace. It was from when I left work up until midnight and then all weekend.

    If your friends are as into it as you, fine. But some of them might be like me and slowly edging the serial texters out of their life.

    Yeah I think you're right that it's a balancing act. Your snake Jew friend sounds pretty interesting. I have a friend like that that likes to send pictures of his penis on A text thread. I'm 30 and sometimes I wonder if it's appropriate. Also, my friends on text are racist anti-Semites, but I love them anyway. You should try throwing a pic of fat girlsout there if the Cos' makes you uncomfortable.
