Is it normal to never work in your life, ever?

My aunt is now 50 years old and today, I think I lost all respect for her.

She never worked. She literally told me that she never held a part time job, never went to college, dropped out of high school at grade 10 and then rejoined it a year later after taking a break..then finally finished it at age 20.

She never did a thing in her life and for years she has told me "when we went to disney land..when we went to germany..when we went to ireland.."

I assumed she worked hard for it, but apparently her husband was their sole provider and STILL IS. She told me he never had a year off of work and he wont retire until hes in his 70s because they can't afford it.

IIN?

I get annoyed just thinking about how she had 30 years of pure vacation and relaxation while I'm only in my 20s and I work 8 hours 5 days a week and even during high school I worked part time...Why don't I get a vacation? I just don't get how its normal to have 30 years AND more of relaxation. Why does it make me feel so sad? I know I'll never have that but I don't like to feel so sad. :(

is it normal she got all these years off? Hes not a lawyer btw, he was in military and then afterwards, he joined a small company and has worked for them ever since fulltime.

How can you not respect a women who was smart enough to marry a man who would take care of her like that? Your aunt is a genius.

If you're mad at anyone if should be at your uncle for putting up with her bullshit.

it depends what she spent her days doing. being a fulltime house wife can be considered a job. if he works but she takes care of ALL the chores then thats fair. Like does she do the cooking? the laundry? cleaning floors? cleaning the tub and toilet? raking the leaves? did she have children?
they're just an old fashion couple.

Holy shit! Have half of you females forgotten about before the fem Nazi bots took over? There was a time in society where most women did not work, took care of the household, and the men were the sole providers. This is not rocket science. 1 and 1 is 2. This woman and her husband had this same lifestyle. It is not a rare oddity for something to exist.

Although it is quite common now for 95% of working-age women to work a job; you will find more bitching, whining, and complaining from the majority because they don't want to work or already tired of working in their 20's. Women fought tooth and nail to be treated as equals and for workplace satiety for a couple of decades, and now a few snot nosed brats are sliding back down the hill and realizing taking care of the home was not so bad afterall. As for the men? We are hardwired to work and know survival is dependent of us working. Survival of ourselves and our families. Therefore, you won't find the same mentality there because men have never really had the choice of being the homemaker as a general.

So, bitch, whine, and complain. You wanted gender equality and you got it. Don't be jealous of this woman because she liked her lifestyle and made her life the way she wanted. If you want the same then do it for yourself.

I get you. How do you respect someone or look up to them when they haven't worked a day in their life? Or at least went to college for something. That's how I feel about my bf's mom except his parents really CANT afford it, but she rather rely on Gov support then get off her butt.

Don't let your jealousy turn you into a bitter and hateful person..love her for who she is and not for her lifestyle because that really isn't anyone's business but her's and her husband's.

Half of Americans don't pay taxes, just have a lot of kids and get welfare. People have learned to game the system here. Come to the USA, home of the handout.***rolls out the red carpet***
...with liberty and earned income credit for all.

There is no truth to this. Very few Americans pay no tax at all at any point.

The figure you are thinking of is half of Americans pay no federal income tax. 74% of that half are either elderly or young working families that get enough deductions to avoid federal tax. Which leaves 13% of Americans paying no federal income tax without a traditional excuse however since one in 10 Americans has a serious disability it is probable that some of that 13% is made up by them. So I would estimate 4-5% of Americans live off welfare.

Department of Health and Human Services says 4.1%. So I turns out my estimate was right on the money. I guess you will have to keep wearing a tinfoil hat and denying reality while watching fox news.

So you believe the government secretly lies about the welfare rate in a conspiracy to give money to poor people without being noticed. Because the government loves giving money to poor people?

I've heard many conspiracy theories but that the US government is secretly more charitable than expected... That is a first for me.

They looked after the house and kids in the olden days give the oldies a break. Why would you care that she never worked, Grandpa's ok with it. Women did other things back then, old people need love especially our parents and their parents ie your grandparents so forget their past its gone.
