Yeah it's normal, there is many of reasons why not to have a kid. Do we really need more people on this planet? We have enough already.

You are very young, who knows maybe you'll want kids when you're older? It's a massive thing to just rule out of your life.
As for your mother-in-law; this is YOUR relationship, not hers. Do not let her push you into anything, you and your wife need to make the decisions.

Sounds like your heading for your first divorce. all jokes aside kids are expensive and you are pretty young to be married already. I am surprised though that you are married at such a young age and dont want kids... It is beyond normal but something you and your wife should talk about more seriously.

The jealous bitch wants to ruin your marriage and sex-life like she ruined hers.
    Don't fall for it.

Tell your mother in law there's more to raising a child than formula and diapers!

Is she going to mind it every day while you two go out to work?

Is she going to stay overnight so that when it wakens, neither of you are too tired to drive safely to work the next day?

Is she going to be there at meal times so that once (just once) a day you get to eat a meal in bloody peace?

Is she going to sit in your house everytime you two want to go out together so as to babysit this child?

Nothing, but nothing puts a bigger strain on a marriage than a newborn crying baby!! Tell your mother in law to foster one for herself!!

Don't fall for her false promises. She wants the pleasure of pushing a pram for half an hour on a Sunday while you have the drudgery 24/7.

Anyone considering a baby, should either move in with a mom whose just had one recently, or should get a new parent to phone your house everytime she's up with the baby at night, or you should borrow one and let the other parents go on holiday for a week or two. Best contraception you will ever experience!!

          Thanks!

Wish someone had suggested I borrow one for a week, my son would still be a figment of my imagination! I waited until I was in my 30s coz I'd raised 4 siblings for my mother but nothing could have prepared me for a new baby :o(

    Most depressing IIN ever :(

You're 22. If you don't want a kid now, don't have one. You're SO YOUNG!! That being said, I have a very strong feeling that your stance on having children will change as you grow older. For the sake of your wife, who wants a child, try to consider this when talking with her about it. (For example: "I don't feel that I want to have a kid right now" as opposed to "I never ever want to have a kid, ever, period.")

I never want children. Though im not that experience and old, I feel that I am experienced enough to know that I don't want any children around. I LOVE babies...they're super adorable and cute, but when it comes to pooping and older children, i just want to die. But if your wife wants children, talk about it with her. Make a proposition that suits both of you and will make you, your wife, and your family satisfied.

Totally normal. Your mom-in-law should respect your choice to wait a while to have kids, or not have any, whatever you decide on. The parenting thing isn't for everybody.

That's normal & no, there's nothing wrong with it.
You may change your mind, but if you never do, that's perfectly fine, too. I don't mind kids but I'm not going to have any. I don't want them & neither does by boyfriend, who had his vasectomy before we met.

Assuming you're wife was aware about your feelings about kids before you got married then you shouldn't feel pressured to have children. But it's up to you to take precautions to prevent that happening.

It's not like you're 40 and truly pressured to do it now or never. I'm assuming your wife is young, too? Wait on making a decision. Wait 5 years if you want before really considering bringing a child into the world. Enjoy being just the two of you -- there's nothing wrong with that. I love my kids but sometimes I so miss that time when it was just me and my husband. Your wife should gently but firmly tell her mother that you and your wife will be the ones to decide if and when the time is right. And if the mother-in-law continues to pressure you, that will probably constitute another game plan for dealing with her throughout your marriage.
