Is it normal to never say good bye, and just sneak out and disappear?

Whenever I'm out with friends, and like when I leave, I never, I mean never, remember to say good bye, or tell anyone where I went. It's become kind of a joke that I just disappear?

I usually do this too. The more I think about whether I should say anything to anyone the more awkward I feel...so I just leave.
It is only when I'm really close to the people I'm with that I'll say goodbye. Sometimes I am even very gregarious with my departure because it seems to take knowing for sure that people care for me to not just disappear.

I do the same thing at times. I just don't want to bring attention to myself. I think it's being self-centered and 'oh-look at me!' kinda mentality, and I don't want anyone thinking that I expect them to care about me. That's all it is.

That's just plain rude and irresponsible. I guess you don't really care about anyone but yourself.

  • Rude and strange. Why just leave without saying goodbye?

Also what rivka said is true.

If you know that people care about you, then you may make them worry about you and you're also not helping them in ensuring you are safe. Ultimately people won't care that you are just gone and it's not good for your own sake.

Rude and dangerous. What if something happens to you and nobody knows where to start looking???

Me too. Goodbye's are sometimes awkward and weird. It's easier to just leave than to explain to somebody why you are leaving. I don't think it's rude unless there are less than 15 people are the party.
