Is it normal to "need" to sleep in an 88 degree room?

I'm 52 and find I'm having trouble sleeping in rooms that are "cold". The problem is that cold now includes "normal" temperatures like 75 f. I find as the night goes on that I like it warmer and warmer. Like about 88 or so. When I travel I carry a heater to make sure that the air will be warm enough. If it's "cold", my throat gets dry and I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. This is especially hard when camping. This has been slowly coming on for about 20 years. I'm in good shape, at a proper weight and sleep well if it's warm enough. Anyone else out there experiencing anything similar to this? Any suggestions to getting back to where sleeping in cold is comfortable?

Thanks

I turn the heat on in the summer and still use my comforter.

Move to Africa...you won't need a heater there.

    Not normal
I think the problem is psychological... How do you know what temperature it is to the exact degree anyway? With blankets it would be warmer still. Reduce the temperature one degree at a time. Make yoursef keep it at this temperature for several weeks (or until you are comfortable at that temperature) before dropping it another degree. You could think of it as "aclimatising" yourself.

I don't think I can be a lot of help to you here. But I can at least offer a contrast. I don't think it's normal to sleep in 75 degree (Fahrenheit) heat. I certainly don't think it's normal to be able to sleep in 88 degree heat. I'd find that immensely uncomfortable. But I accept that your comfort may take in what I would see as sweat-patch city, and my comfort may rely on what you would see as living in an igloo. We're all different. And I guess that's the point. We ARE all different. You don't need to make yourself the same as me, and vice versa. If you like it warm, then so be it. Be who you are.

I'm no doctor (nobody on this site is) but you should have your circulation checked out. Also, when you get older, your skin thins out and get cold easily.
