Is it normal to need to be trusted?

I know I can tell absolutely anything to my best friend, but I recently realized that there's nothing about her that I know that everybody else doesn't. I know that there's not much for her to tell me, but I feel the need to keep reassuring her that she can talk to me, and she can tell me anything. Is it normal to NEED her to confide in me this much?

You open book she's spillin all your secrets which is why she wont tell you for fear of you telling others.

Of course that's normal. When you trust someone, you want the same amount of trust back, otherwise something just feels "off".

Is this is a self esteem thing? Will you feel more important to her/yourself if she confides in you? Confiding/sharing secrets does not makeyou special. Who you are as a person and friend is more important than this. Reframe how you judge friendship and where your self worth comes from. Friendship is more than secrets and you are a valuable person and friend whether or not people spill their secrets. Also, you don't need to share your secrets to be loved/appreciated!
