Is it normal to need approval on how i look to make me feel good?

I just don't have any selfesteem and now that I am trying to change that I've found myself constantly looking for opinons on how I look. It's extreme to the point that I almost considered putting pictures of myself online to either sell and see how many would actually like the way I look or just post them up and see the comments.

It's normal to want other people's approval or to find out what they think of you, people are curious. I would advise against this, though. In my opinion, and that's all it is, I think this can become harmful behaviour. I don't know, I think if you did end up getting people's praise then you might become dependent on their opinions. I personally don't think that's the best way to raise your self-esteem. Maybe I'm wrong. Although, I'm biased, because the whole posting pictures for approval idea sort of makes me cringe.

No problem:). This isn't uncommon, by the way. Lots of people post pictures on things like Facebook, looking for "likes" and comments telling them how great they look. Feeling insecure about your appearance isn't uncommon either. I just think that there are better ways to boost your self-esteem, which don't involve relying on other people.

I have a mental illness through which I require constant approval, or I will feel utter, complete worthlessness. Not the life to live. -.- Definitely a bad habit. *Agrees wholeheartedly with the Banana.*

Having read on through the comments, I felt it might be noteworthy to mention that I'm male. o.O In case that is interesting to anyone. lol

This may sound really cheesy, but everyone has atleast some beautiful features, I'd gladly name yours but I don't know what you look like.

Other then that, you seem like a very nice person,

Girls fishing for a compliment is always obvious, and aggravating, especially on the aforementioned facebook, and is cringe worthy as had already been stated.
Having said that, you may well be very good looking and just have an unfortunate case of low self esteem, which is sad to see. Conveniently every man is the world thinks he is the best looking person there is so we don't have this problem so much...

That last part is just not at all true!

Unless you were using sarcasm or something?

I meant it as true at first, noticed it wasn't really true at all whilst writing it...but I'm not too bothered. I often have an enormous ego, alike the kind I was trying to portray all men had.

Yes it's perfectly normal because everyone espically women seek approval to make them feel better about themselves. Even if we don't want to admit it everyone does it, everyone has it in the back of their mind to wonder if they good and there's nothing wrong with it!
