Is it normal to name a miscarriage after being pregnant for 4 days?

I have a friend that had 3 miscarriages (lost the first one at 11 wks, 2nd one at 6 weeks, and the last one after 4 days from the positive preg. test) she named them all. I understand the first two, but the last miscarriage? Is that normal?

First of all the unborn child wasn't 4 days old. Women don't find out they're pregnant earlier than a month usually. So by the time she found out it was most likely 1-2 months along.

Second... seriously? She's trying to have a baby and keeps miscarrying, and you're suggesting she's abnormal for naming her unborn child?

That's pretty harsh. And somewhat uncaring, especially if you claim to be her friend. I would suggest leaving her alone to let her grieve for the loss in whatever way heals her best.

    :-(

I wasn't suggesting that is was abnormal, I wanted to see what the general public thought (which was the reason why I asked the question). I do feel and understand her pain, as I was in the similar situation. I understand that she is grieving and I understand the feeling of wanting to have a child, but from talking to my other friends that also had a miscarriage, they never named their babies. So thats why I wanted to know what the public thoughts were so that I can understand and help her. I do consider myself as a caring person, she is on my mind all the time and I want to help.

They sound like they really want to have a child and if giving an embryo a name is way to accept they nearly have a child, then it's a perfectly normal coping mechanism

I don't know...it sounds like she really needs professional help. I've never met anyone who has named their miscarriages o_O
