Is it normal to move out at 18

Not into like a dorm at college. But into an apartment? Is it normal to leave your parents house when you get the chance to?

I moved out at 18, thought I knew it all. I'm 27 now, looking back I "might" have stayed longer to save the money, but sounds like you can't even do that. So IMHO move out and be the one that controls your money, just help your mom if/when you can, and only if she needs the shoulder, not the $300 sunglasses...

yes but you should find a job before to pay all your bills and learn to be indipendent...when you live with your parents , they look after you but when u leave their house, u have to look after by your own.do it if you're sure and remember that they're always avalaible 4 u

It is time to move out. If she is spending all your money your better off deciding where it should go. It sounds like your an adult in the relationship anyway. If you can find share accommodation to split the bills then you may be better off.

yeah that's a bit of a tricky one... after 18 you're no longer a minor so... is it illegal for a parent to take your money away from you? or is it just rent?

if you can afford your own place it may be time to consider moving

I just feel really uncomfortable at my house. I know it's awesome not having to pay bills. But my mom takes all my ss money and everytime I get a check from work she tells me not to spend it. She got laid off 3 years ago and is living off unemployment. She doesn't do anything besides watch tv and never talks to me. Only when she has something to yell about she does talk. She spends my money on ridiculous things like 300 sunglasses and even more expensive purses. She goes gambling alot. My dad died a few years ago and j think that effected how she is. But even befor that she was like this. I would like to become independent and not be sad when j come home.

It is normal if your not happy at home, I left home at 18. It is hard though becoming an adult and not having finacial freedoms like other 18 year olds who could afford to do more because they were not paying rent.
