Is it normal to miss working?

I have been unemployed for four months now and I am bored as shit! I actually miss working for crappy money and kiss-ass bosses! I know eventually I will start working again and grow tired of it. Hopefully, I will remember how being unemployed is even worse! At least going to work everyday gives you a sense of responsibility and a paycheck! So I ask now, is this normal?

  • There are other ways to experience that sense of responsibility you desire.
    I haven't worked for a year and a half now and I'm never bored. I'm a university student. I volunteer for the SPCA. I take care of my nephews for my brother whenever he needs it. I paint pictures, I garden, I hike mountains, and I'm a brackish water aquarist. Busy, busy, busy.

    My husband has been unemployed for several months now but he is more busy now then when he was working. He volunteers his time with non profits and runs community meetings. He is working with neighborhood associations to help people build gardens. Just because you aren't getting paid does not mean you can't work at something. Volunteer your skills.

    @Americanhoney
    you're one of the best posters here don't let those idiots make you feel otherwise. I rarely comment but I watch how a core group of these people dominate the sight and act as though they are the popular clique from highschool, and dare anyone say something they don't like.... Look out. It's pathetic and boring. Keep posting, I and others think you're hilarious and ever truthful!

    Perfectly normal. Do volunteer work or take up a new hobby.

    Although I really love paying your way through life, perhaps it's time then, since you're so bored, to get your ass back to work. No?

    Oh please mando, don't be a fool. How do you know why this person is unemployed? 4 months is too fucking long no matter what the reason and I'm sick of people like you coddling people like this who could easily find a job. It's insanity.

    And as for your snobby little "ordinary American" comment, grow up. You were much nicer when you were ollieo, for fucks sake.

    • I agree with Mando, but then again, he does give some of the best advice on this website.

      You wrote (to the o.p.): "I really love paying your way through life"

      Being unemployed does not mean a person is on welfare. Your assumption that it does highlights a typical American attitude of individualism that rejects helping others in need - that and your aggressive defense of your opinion.

      Besides, the original poster didn't say they didn't want a job: they said they "miss working" because it gives them a "sense of responsibility".

      Americans are not the majority on this site, your bullying doesn't fly here.

    @mando
    you're a jerk who hates Americans that is clear from many of your posts. You don't know the situation in this country so why don't you get off your soapbox.
