Is it normal to miss work due to chlamydia?

I was treated for a urinary tract infection but I do not feel better. I feel worse. I have an appointment with my doctor soon to test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, because the symptoms are similar to a UTI. As it is, I can barely work because I constantly have to pee, I'm in a lot of pain and I have nausea and a fever, and my job involves a lot of walking and lifting which makes it even worse. I'm not able to take regular bathroom breaks either, and I work 8 hour shifts. I've tried taking AZO urinary pain relief but it doesn't help at all. On top of that, I almost always get really bad diarrhea from antibiotics. Would it be normal to miss a few days of work while being treated? Would it be okay to ask my doctor for a sick note? I want to head off any problems with my manager before they start, so I figure getting a sick note beforehand would help. Is this normal?

If you're sick, you're sick. It doesn't matter what you have. If you can't work and that note will prevent you from losing your job, ask for one.

It's reasonable, just don't tell them why. Just say you have a stomach flu.
